Pullin the tubes....

Hey guys,
I have a 100 watt JCM 800 reissue and was considering doing the pull the 2 inner tubes and make it a "50 watter". I was curious if this is bad for the amp an any way?
 
It's not too healthy for it. Your tranny's are set up for 100w output.
 
I've been told that its fine to do, and have done it, but it really didn't make much difference. Its not really worth doing IMHO.
 
There is only a few db difference. Really not noticeable. If you are trying to push the tubes more try a THD or other auttenuator.
 
In all actuality, I would rather not do it, but I am playing a show tonight.... 1 of the power tubes blew and I don't have the money for new tubes for another week. That is all. I just dont want to harm my baby in the long run
 
Just make sure to set your ohms switch appropriately.
