Put an effects loop in my 2204

I had a loop installed in my 2204 and it hasn't worked out. I may need to try this, since I already have the holes drilled. Wonder if there is any chance they would line up?

Do you need to use buffered pedals with it, or do you find it to be clear with whatever you use?
