For those that have played 2 to 3 of the amps in the subject line, how do they compare (tone and feel, not specs)? What did you like about them, what didn't you like as much?

Not looking to start a "this amp is better than that amp" thread, just curious to hear people's opinions on each of the amps in comparison to the other ones please. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder obviously, just curious if there are some consistencies of opinion regarding tonal characteristics, etc.

In the market for a hot-rodded Marshall style amp that has really chimey fender-ish cleans, music played ranges from Led Zep / ZZ Top to Tool. Transparent effects loop a must, as his clean head room. Prefer uncompressed open tones, with great spongy but growling marshal-esque OD if that makes sense. Ideally I would play them all, but there are no delaers within a 500 mile radius of my home. Cheers and thanks for your input!

I own the 20th Shiva, have played the PT-100 and have heard enough clips and feedback about the PWE EH3 to be able to confidently say that you absolutely can get what you want out of all three of those amps (get the Fender-voiced clean channel on the PWE EH3, though, if Fender cleans is what you're after).

Choosing between these three amps is essentially like choosing between a Ferrari, Lamborghini and a Porsche. They're all incredible - just pick one and go with it.

Sweet, that's what I like to hear man. Thanks for the feedback!

I don't know about the PWE, but the PT-100 is a great flexible amp with fenderish cleans and hot Marshall tones. I prefer my Friedman BE-100 for the best hot rodded Marshall tones. The new Friedman SS-100 has a full clean channel with a fenderish/vox vibe. Something worth checking into. The Bogner has it's own darker tone IMO. I like the 20th Ecstasy better. Check into Rhodes amps to. Very flexible in every regards.

What's with all the hype about PWE?
They used to be Stevenson amps and they don't have that good a reputation around here

Thanks Greg, appreciate your feedback, and will check out the other amps you mentioned as well. Thanks man.

Apparently it's not OK to question products on here...

Here's a message I just got from '"PWE Amplification" in my rig-talk inbox:

"Before you go on slinging shit about PWE, why don't you use your real name
instead of hiding behind some bullshit screen name? I bet you've never
played one or even seen one yet you see fit to attack the brand."

So yeah... whatever

Sorry dude, just thought I'd provide a glimpse of what customer service might turn out to be with PWE

Ignore him, this is what he does. He's a local guy obviously with some kind of axe to grind. I emailed him in an effort to keep it off the board but when you're dealing with a troll, this is what happens.

Sure, I'm a troll...
I'm asking what the big fuss is about PWE amps and you see fit to send me a classy email...
If you had any type of business sense, you'd try to be polite with any potential customer, not just the 10-12 people who ever bought an amp from you.

A troll is exposed again, go ahead and go back and delete posts as you've done before!

OK and you say thet because...?

because you have trolled before, will most likely continue trolling. Not gonna post anymore on this but you have a history of questionable posts here.

Guys, please start another thread if folks are going to hash out some other issues, lets try and keep this one focused on tonal differences between the three great amps please.

You're right
You can't really go wrong with a Shiva; I would prefer the EL34 version though
I've also heard good things about pretty much all CAA models

I've owned/gigged with all three amps and they're all great. The PT100 and Shiva both have a similar smooth gain structure while the PWE is more vintage. And to set the record straight, PWE's customer service is one of the best in the business.
