Quick Rod - First Gear settings

Hello, I really enjoy the First gear on the QR, as it is a bit brighter than Gear 2 and Gear 3. I use a tube screamer in front of the amp as well. Just wondering if some people could possibly share their settings on First Gear with OD? Also do you use the Solo channel (Gear 2) for solos or a boost in loop?

I'm usually in Gear 2 but regardless:

Pres 12 oclock
Bass 10 oclock
Mid 12
Treb 7am (zero basically)
Gain 2pm

I never use the Solo option but why are you saying "Solo channel (Gear 2)" I've been through many boosts and have mostly settled on the SD1 and Bad Monkey (TS clone). I've never put a boost in the loop but I do have a MXR 10 band in the loop - a must for me.

But what are you trying to do? Boost solos?

The Quickrod I had (2018 fully loaded head) was incredibly easy to dial in. Pretty much everything at noon and tweak a little.

I have never understood the everything at noon with little tweaking deal. I've not owned one amp that sounded even close to my ideal tone with everything at noon. I'm an outkast, I know.

I just think it’s a good place to start because you can go to every knob and simply say “do I want less or more”.

It also dependent on the amps of course. Marshall-type stuff is pretty much idiot proof, which is why I love it.

bass 11:00

treble - noon
gain - 11:00 I use an external boost for leads
this is through a 4X12 loaded with Scumback M75/J75 combo.

When I visited Scott a year ago he said the tone stack of the QR is basically a Marshall TS.. so everything on 10?.. lol.. I lvoe GEAR 1 for plexi / ACDC tones for sure.. no boost for Malcolm and boost for Angus..

Good post. I think settings recommendations feedback could vary significantly based on the YEAR of the QR as well as speaker and cab choices, of course.

I have a 2015 mini Comp, Fully Loaded. I posted earlier how I'm using an MXR 10 band to help me tweak some things on Gear2, which is usually where I live. Also, Old/New are not subtle changes to gain, eq, and feel.
