The title really says it all. Just looking to hear from you guys on what your using for your clean and gritty sounds!

I use a Deluxe for one of the mods for the wet side of my rig. It has a ton of gain on tap yet can get pretty clean.

I use the Egnater BMAN and VX mods for clean/slight breakup on the dry side and the tonal combinations are simply stellar.

I've played a Blackface and it does uber-clean tones well.

I'm looking into the Blackface and the Tweed to cover the Fender clean sounds. Can't decide which one I want.

I'd like to have a module that does the super glassy clean sound, to contrast with the warm Fender-ey sound.

In that case I would recommend either the JTM, Top Boost, or Super V. They all do the jangly thing pretty well.

Interesting. I'll prolly pick up a Top Boost, and have Pete do his AC30 mod to it to cover my Vox needs. Then I'll pick up either a Blackface or a Tweed for the Fender sound.

What about mid-gain stuff?

I plan to add a Plexi to my arsenal for mid-gain on the wet side. I may ship it off to Anthony at Salvation or Pete or Dave or Jeff or somebody.  I just want somebody to make me a Rivera module. Anthony's Mandarin and Stonerverb module clips sounded impressive.

Honestly, I feel that the mid-gain department is where the Randall side of the MTS system is lacking. The vast vast majority of the Randall mods have way too much gain on tap IMO. The best mid gain tones come from the Egnater camp I think. The VX, BMAN, SL, T/D, and COD mods all cover that ground nicely. You can get the guys to make a single channel and end up right around where you would be for a modded Randall. Not to take anything away from any of the mod guys but the stock Egnater stuff is pretty freaking fantastic IMO.

I'm glad you said that, because I agree that the Randall stuff is lacking as far as the mid-gain territory. I'm looking into the Egnater stuff for my mid-gain tones.

Are you saying that Bruce will build me a single channel version of their modules, so I can run it in the RM4?

Ya they'll do any module either channel in a single. The dualies will work but you only get channel A. They do custom work also. Call over to the Amp Lounge and see if you can get Frank or one of the guys on the line and tell them what you want.

Thanks for the info!
I believe a phone call is in order very soon

The Plexi or an unmodded TopBoost or Super-V will do mid-gain well.

+1

topboost stock has lots of gain, a bit to much for me to classify as a mid gain module. Super V, Plexi, Tweed from the randall camp.

I have an egnater bassman single that is pretty sweet. Egnater will make you a single module, but it aint cheap. Almost better to buy a used module and send it off to anthony, Dave, or pete and have them mod it.

A stock Super V does the trick for me.
Dont own one currently but when I had it, it was the 'spicy semi clean/drive' sound that fit in great with alot of songs.
