Randys tone on After Hours was pretty good

EXACTLY my point. Some little piss-ant TV studio in upstate New York was able to more accurately capture Randy's real tone than Max Norman was in a studio. Yet, internet guitar forums can't fall over themselves quickly enough to talk about how thin Rhoads tone was as you look back 25 years or so at it. I'm telling you guys, at the time no one was saying his tone was thin. Thin compared to what? Molly Hatchett, Scandal, Foreigner? Everyone was freaking over how much gain he had. He was really the first high gain guy that I was ever aware of.
YOU are exactly right!! I remember when that first Ozzy/Rhodes album came out and "thin bad tone etc etc " was not how his tone was described back in 1981! Back then it was "OMG have you heard the new Ozzy record with that awesome guitarist Randy Rhodes". Randy sounded pretty good next to Tommy Tutone playing 867-5309 or Rik Springfield.

Altec is still dicking around with little speakers, wonder if they're on board for this or if they're gonna have some kind of clone?
A friend of mine has some of those speakers....they are weird sounding to say the least :)

Weird in what way ? They sound fried or something ?

I have not, and will not, bash Randy Rhoads. I have not, and will not, bash Marshall amps. I have not, and will not, bash the Blizzard of Ozz album. I like Randy Rhoads and I like Marshall amps and I like the Blizzard of Ozz album. But the guitar tone that Randy Rhoads played, through a Marshall amp, on the Blizzard of Ozz album sucks, period, and I wouldn't buy an amp that purported to recreate that tone. That's my opinion.

I would not, could not in a boat. I would not , could not with a goat. Who the hell are you? Modern day Dr. Suess hoped up on speed and taco chips?

When I started playing guitar at 15 years old or therabouts, my first exposure to RR was the Tribute album when the "Crasy Train" video was being aired alot.

I bought the double live album and was floored by how great Randy's guitar sound was; not to mention playing....
To hear now in an earlier post that they tried to "thin it out to match the previous albums" makes me think his sound must have been massive live.

If that was RR's white Marshall on Tribute, and Marshall got a hold of it and did a good job of copying it... Marshall's got a winner there!

Yeah I don't like EVH's tone....never thought it was anything special.

I The JVM was a good move in that direction, but they cut corners and overpriced the thing.

Randy was one of the true greats but I didn't always love his tone. Cool looking amp regardless.

$1800 for a 4 channel amp is overpriced? Yes I know I am not including the new floundering dollar price but that is not Marshall's fault.

$2200 for the jvm now

http://www.music123.com/Marshall-JVM-Se ... 5.Music123

there's still a few places you can snag them for $1800, but the price hike is definitely in motion

oh it was loud enough for demo boy to want earplugs alrighty, but i really liked the tone of this amp, moreso than any marshall i've heard in recent years. raw, pure, simple and all MARSHALL

The RR amp sounds good! You can hear that midrange.....

wow that RR sig sounds killer in that vid!!! not much different than i would expect a SL to sound, but awesome just the same

ugh...i see 08 being an expensive year for me, unless the amp is just ridiculously outta my price range

another thing i noticed was that it didn't hurt my ears at high volume like alot of the other marshalls have in the past, but it still had teeth and enough gain for demo guy to be able to play randy licks, but it wasn't as bloated as something like a jcm 800.

just solid tone and OK it looks pretty sweet too

Thanks for the vid. That amp sounds great! Now that's what I was talking about. They did a great job with that amp. Good for Marshall!

Thanks for the video Pat. The RR sounds great but tell me more about that Egnater Rebel. That think looks like a MONSTER in kids clothing.

dude, this thing is one step closer to my dream amp. how about the size of that thing???

lunch pail!

and the tones are sah-weeeet. jeff h. was telling me that brian swerdferger is gonna pick up two stacks for stereo rig clinics and small gigs, and that jeff used one on a gig at it easily kept up with the drummer. it's 20 watts wide open, and having a 12 watt coyote myself i know i'm never struggling with volume.
