Randy Rhoads Guitar Lesson recorded by a student

Absolutely, thick and chunky, I don’t know what they were thinking on the albums lol
The tone diary is killer af . I don’t get the hate for it . I get the hate for the blizzard tone . It’s a lot more brittle and harsh .

If you compare the tones to other albums from the same year, I’d say it leaves a lot to be desired.

Also, he sounds very good on the live recordings, so it had to be some studio BS

Personally the playing shines through so it’s definitely not a dealbreaker

For 1982 ? What’s a better tone other than Van Halen fair warning from that ? Im going to killed by this but the over the mountain is perfect imo for 1982. Others will bring up priest but idk .

Not interested in debating tone, listen to/like what you want

I posted the thread to really focus on the lesson and his chops

Take your pick from the albums released in 1980 when blizzard came out

I think that might be the tapes that Peter Margolis had from when Randy taught him. IIRC, he said that he had recorded every lesson. Peter M was also the guy behind the RR documentary that never came to pass back in the mid-2000's. *Edit: Just read on the video that it was one of the Peter M tapes.

Wow, his students really got their monies worth with his lessons. Not surprising as we all know Randy lived and breathed music.

I was going to see the Musonia school in North Hollywood, but I am not sure if they are still doing tours. Their website was down last time I checked.
