True, but I give a slight edge to Axl for at least not singing everything an octave lower than he used to (on second thought, it would probably sound a lot better if he did do that ).

He did seem out of breath the whole time and looked like he was only breathing out his mouth. Maybe he was sick that night?

What? That's Axl on a good day .... his voice is old and he no longer has the growl (Hetfield sings higher now too) He sounds like a 12 yr old here though. I also suspect it is the live recording. The band is too low in the mix. I'm pretty sure they were louder for those in attendence. I saw GnR a few yrs ago and they were horrible but his voice held up more or less for 1/2 the show.
