Kirk wasn't bad in the 80s and he has written shitload of good riffs... Reb seems to be quite bitter about the whole episode.

I'm pretty sure Hetfield wrote 95% of Metallica's riffs.

Maybe they keep Kirk around because he has a purdy mouth.

Totally agree with Beach. NOT a Hammett fan. His vibrato sounds like cats fighting, FFS. Hard if not impossible to believe he took lessons from Satriani.
And there's a similar reason why Hetfield wouldn't even let him play rhythms on the albums until very recently, too...listen just to how all over the place he is on the live footage from the "Black" album tour...kinda sad.

Never understood the fascination with him; Hetfield's a far better guitarist hands down, even as a lead player!

And yes, those pictures are pretty ghey, but realize he was all the rage with the girlies at the time, and NO ONE wanted to see suggestive pics of the dudes in Metallica - then or now!

Reb didn't just play in Winger . He's played on countless recordings as a in demand session player in the 80's and 90's not to mention some killer solo stuff he's put out , and his instructional dvds .

I have never seen Kirk do anything other than Metallica .... Maybe because he really sucks as a player and no one ever asked him to or wanted him

Anyway , check out Reb's solo cd Masquerade ... That disc. is killer

I don't have a problem with him saying that. If you're willing to back it up should you be called out on it, then it's fine. It's also true. Every time I see Hammett play, I shake my head.

I don't think Reb would have a problem at all backing himself up on that. Although true, if given the opportunity, I think I'd rather be a bad guitar player with shitty tone in a mega-band making a shitload of money rather than being an awesome guitar player playing at fairs and local bars or in Whitesnake

Reb Beach is pretty far from awesome himself unless you can't get enough shitty tapping licks. He definitely smokes hammet in technique and ability, but I have heard some pretty horrid vibrato out of Beach too. From what I have heard he pretty much begged to get into whitesnake. Now he gets to play second fiddle and get outclassed every night by an awesome guitarist.

I am not a Hammett fan, just think they are both pretty terrible.
