Reb Beach rips on Hammett

James with the Armani bag is just too funny. Loved the older stuff, but they do reserve some respect I mean come on, these guys started a genre. But, with that said, I can't even look at them anymore after that "Some Kind of Monster" crap .... reminded me of a bunch of whining rich kids. Reb saying something like that isn't hard to believe, didn't he say some stuff about Jimi being over-rated some years back? This guy seems to have no respect for innovation. But, we all have our favorite styles and players ... and they ALL are valid. (Mick Mars ... perfect example ... sure the guy is really basic ... but I don't think anybody else would have worked in the Crue) ... by the way ... met Reb once ... he was an asshole .... George Lynch rolled in the next week ... sweetest guy in the world ... just saying

That dudes Butthurt bad. Not defending KH at all. While I dont think he suks I do feel hes overrated. Never notice the Kip winger thing. I had to watch the vid again to notice the 1 sec clip of it.

IMO KH is gay but Reb Beach is really really GAY. Rebs solos are all lame. the same tap every time.

And Kirks band is a gazilion time better than Rebs IMO - so quit your cryin reb :D

While I like some of Metallicas stuff, Im not a fan and I think KH is the luckiest guitar player alive. Its kind of hard to bust on him though because Ive never seen him toot his own horn and he seems to be the only likeable member or the band( never had a problem with trujillo or newsted but dont really consider them members ya know?) Some kind of Monster caused me to lose any and all respect for James and Lars though I do think that they are the 2 key components to the bands sound. You cant deny Metallicas influence and you have to respect that even if you dont like them.

I met Reb awhile back and he was a bit of a douche but I think that he his immensely better than KH in all respects. I love Winger, always have but Reb doesnt see to cut it IMO in anything that hes ever been in outside of Winger. Winger took alot of shit but I thik that they songs rocked and that theyre a pretty talented group of musicians. Kips first solo album blew me away, I was expecting to hear something like Winger and it turned out to be almost Seal like; total singer songwrtier stuff that was chock full of great tunes.

Winger excelled at what they did/do and you cant really compare it to metallica. Reb would have been better off keeping his mouth shut because all he did was open the doors for a shitstorm

Here is a pic of old Kirk just hanging out with a buddy......
nothing wrong here.

"Where ever he lays PIPE is home........" :hys:

The internet is a wonderful thing isnt it??

The winger pictures were un-called for    . I love thrash but not a huge fan of metallica or kirk but then again I hate winger but Reb is way better than kirk.

I almost forgot to mention the Dokken ( Live from the Sun ) DVD where Reb tore it up and sounded as good as old Lynch IMHO

Check out some of that if you think Reb sucks and then please play it better ... If you can :D

I once got a backstage pass for Orange Stage at Roskilde Festival when Metallica were about to play. Got to meet the band, and have a nice little chat with Kirk's tech who gave me a tour of his gear....

Holy Moses, there was a lot of really good gear there... and it made me wonder how a guy that has enjoyed so much success, and has had that much room to hone his skills could make all that high end gear sound horrible. It baffles me.

Does he deliberately dime the treble and presence, leave the wah in forward position, and then play out of tune?

It sure as shit sounded that way when I saw them.

But kudos to Kirk for making that much money from playing like he does. He has gotta be doing something right... I just don't know what.

Reb Beach is a million times better than Hamster. We all know he's completely right.

I caught that too.  I was thinking not only is he being rude.. he's really not that informed.

I actually like Kirk's playing on ( Ride The Lightning ) and even some of the Black album , as some of the solos were good , but I have a hard time listening to most of the Wah drenched out of tune dying put me out of my misery solos that comprise most of his catalog !

I agree. I don't have a problem with his playing. He's not my favorite guitarist...just like a lot of people that I listen to.

But it's cool to bag a guitarist that has made more money per recorded solo than anyone on this forum will make for every note they've ever played from birth to death.

Hetfield was the reason , as far as guitar goes why they were so successful . It has nothing to do with Hammet ... I think any lead guitarist could of been in that band and they still would of risen to the top of the metal heap .

by appealing to angry teen-age boys who are mostly grown men now who still have their original metal up your ass t-shirts that come out of the closet every time there is a new tour.
HEY!! Get it straight.......
Its my KILL EM ALL SHIRT that I break out....not the Metal up your ass...you poser!

Actually I only seen Metallica once when they opened for Ozzy......
Think I was wearing a Pink Izod to the show with deck shoes.

For years my friends and I have had a running joke about Kirk's vibrato, and how it sounds exactly like Paul Lynde's character in Blazing Saddles..."Neeerrrrrrvous Elk".

It's the "Nervous Elk" vibrato technique! :D
