Suhr Shiba drive, used to be an SD-1...but he hated that it took all the low end away from his signal.

Winger is/was the apitamy of unoriginal pre fab sell out corporate rock tailor made for girls aged 13-24.
Sure those guys are great musicians and they will be the first to admit it was a money grab.
As for long lasting impact, originality and any semblance of hip, cool or something memorable I'll look elsewhere.
Thanks
May be some merit to your statement from then. But now their music is light years ahead of other rock out there currently or even from the girls aged rock. Kip Winger is a music genius.

Yep!!!

Reb is a monsta... and still a killer player. Still better than 90% of the guys at it today.

Talking sh!t about Reb being in Winger, is like talking sh!t about Pete Thorn taking a gig playing for Ariana Grande. He's getting paid to do something he loves to do, regardless of the circumstance or form. I bet everyone on this forum would do the same and cash that check if given the opportunity to do it.

YMMV... Just saying... Carry on.

Who's bashing on Reb Taps? I could fast forward every Winger tune to the solo and I would love them.
It helps that I wandered into a Guitar Center around 1990ish and there was Reb getting ready for a 1 man guitar clinic. The guy was super cool and then ripped it up. He has an ascending pluck then Tap technique that is (or was) pretty unique + that left hand hammer natural harmonic thing. Lots of cool stuff from that day I'm still working on, lol!

That nick jonas asshole is a way better guitarist than Reb.

My band open for Winger in 2008. Reb was super cool to talk to. They are all monster players. I have nothing but respect for them.

Can someone that really knows please school me on the various models of the CAA/Suhr amps ? What is the difference between say the SE+, PT100, OD100, the Classic, etc... would really like to know. Thanks in advance.

I few tweaks here & there thats about it.

Prolly the biggest contrast is the current PT-100 compared to the rest.

Seen him with Whitesnake within the year and I was with 2 other guitar players. All agreed his tone was horrible and thin and did not sound like the clip, which sounds good. In the clip you provided, he's playing thru the Bogner!

Imo...but i wasnt there.. those shivas are for a different artist...it was a showcase, multi jam type event. Rebs playing thru the pt100...and has since.

I loved Winger from the start. The mini concert they did on MTV was killer.
Reb is just a monster.

Agreed, always loved the band and Reb's playing was a big influence on me back in the day....I definitely ripped off the tapping up ring finger pluck lick from Reb lol....I try to do it with my own licks/style. I hammer the notes with the first finger most of the time if I can help it....but the Reb technique sneaks in there from time to time lol. I never liked the cliquey attitude for some in the hard rock/metal genre growing up....I was always firmly planted in heavier thrash and heavier styles but I always liked Sykes' Whitesnake/Yngwie/dokken/winger/queensryche/tesla and many more as well....they were brilliant in their guitar playing and melodic hard rock and metal styles with some with prog elements

As far as Reb's tone goes...I have a PT100 and a BE100....some monster tones can come from the PT100. His smooth legato/tapping style has a great sound and definitely sounds like Reb when you hear it. Every video or interview I've ever seen of Reb he seems like a good guy who just loves to play....no attitude whatsoever.

Some good shit and great tones from Winger/Reb/PT100:

It also sounds super thick as he's playing along to the rhythm guitars on the backing track.

Saw him with WS back in 2013, sounded great to me. I believe both Aldrich and Reb were using Suhr modded Marshalls.
