I'd like to keep my budget around $200-$250 or less. And the Digitech is certainly the right price but I wasn't all that impressed with the demos I've managed to dig up.

I've been looking for clips for a few hours and I'm liking the G-Major (~$200) and the Intellifex (~$150). The Line 6 HD300 doesn't sound too bad either but I've never been a big fan of the "layout" of Line 6's stuff.

If you go with line 6 for effects, you'll want to go with the M series (M9, M13) or the pod hd500. The 300 as an fx unit is extremely limited. It has a bunch of good effects but you can only use and assign 3 at a time and it's difficult to navigate. The 500 gives you almost limitless options in pedalboard mode and is much easier to get around on.
