Hey guys,

Recently modified another Jet City JCA20H amp for a UK customer. The mod is a variation of the Cali Mod that Mike Fortin and I have done to many Marshalls over the years. It came out really cool and i had a lot of fun with the amp! It sounds huge for a 20watt amp with the mods, definitely would make a great gigging/recording amp if you miked it up.

I got a few videoclips recorded with it yesterday while i was jamming along to some of my favorite tunes. Nothing fancy.. Just fucking around playing a few solos that i like a lot. Used my little Sony Bloggie HD cam for both video/audio and edited in Garageband in all of about 5 mins.

Hope you guys dig!!

Cheers!
Dan

Cheers Jason! Yup, this mod is a variation on the original Cali Mod which uses a clipper circuit. It's a lot of fun to play.. Shit loads of gain on tap and the Depth control really adds some extra beef in the low end. For a 20watt power section, it definitely kicks out some big low end

SICK playing... awesome amp.. are you still a big advocate of the SH-11 in the bridge? What is up top in the neck?

Actually that's just a Suhr Aldrich in the bridge and a Dimarzio Air Norton S pickup in the neck.

I spent a bunch of time with warmer/darker sounding pickups like the SH-11 and SD Holdsworth (alnico2 JB) for example... and decided that ultimately for me.. Dark pickups in a Strat take away too much of the liveliness and bite, leaving you with a boring sounding guitar. Instead, I just go with a pickup that just gives me a little more of what the guitar already has. If the guitar is naturally too bright or too dark.. I just sell it and move on. It's gotta sound 99% spot on in the first place and then I can just enhance it a little bit with a pickup swap if necessary :)
