Wasn’t 100% happy with the previous version. Had an HX Effects running in the loop and a couple drives for taste. Amp is a Smallbox into an old 800 straight 4x12 with 65’s. On smaller stages a JCM SC20 with a Mesa vertical 2x12 with V30’s.

Looks really clean. I sometimes ask myself: ‘If one of my favorite guitarists showed up at one of my shows and was asked to sit in on a few tunes, would my board make any sense?’

Anyone would be thrilled to play through this board.

Wow. Thanks!

What didn't you like about the HX Effects on your previous board?

Took up a lot of space and made me have to configure OD’s in a weird fashion. Couldn’t really get a delay that I really liked. Minor stuff.

Fair enough! I sort of went the other way- replaced a bunch of pedals with the Stomp due to the small size.

Nice job! Beauty board.

Signal flow?
4 cable method with a pedal snake. Everything on the bottom is in the loop, mini wah and the top pedals hit the front end. Both rows are run in order from right to left.

I do the same but with the HX FX. it's my Swiss Army knife. I put it in the loop and use it for all my delays, reverbs, tremolo, chorus, and vibe stuff.

Is that tape/picks something you stick on the side of your guitar for gigs/rehearse and then put it on the wah between gigs?

At first I thought, what a weird place to put your picks.

That’s exactly what I do. It goes on my mic stand during shows. We always hire production and I got tired of forgetting the store bought pick holders on mic stands after a gig. Tape is more economical in the long run.

I guess my question is why did you decide to put all of the pedals in order of the signal chain? I feel like people lay out pedalboards based on the signal flow and not the work flow, and get used to the layout, rather that getting the layout to work for you. For example, I don't switch my EQ off and on much, but I do use my boosts often. Why would the EQ need to be on the bottom, where it is easy to access, and the boosts up top? What if the Chorus and EQ were up top and the boosts on the bottom?

Ultimately, I don't know what you use most. Perhaps this is laid out best for you. I'm just curious.

I use the stuff on the bottom the most. The EQ is in the loop and it’s used as my solo boost. The OD’s are on most of the night. Smallbox gets the Archer, but if I use my JCM 800 the Shiba Reloaded gets the bulk of the work. Fish Factory is there in case I feel like something different. I use the Drop only on Motley Crue and Slaughter.

Cool. So it all works out then.

Very nice. I still have a Digitech Polara on my board also. And I am using a Friedman Small Box head too.

Looks great. Are you happy with the Drop pedal? How do you use it?

We are tuned 1/2 step down so we use the drop pedal to take us the additional 1/2 step down so that the Motley Crue and Slaughter tunes we do are in the same tuning as on the albums, which would be D. Even the bassist uses one and they track very well. Not sure how they’d work going any lower but for our application they work great. Playing the Crue stuff in the right tuning sounds huge.
