Hey guys,
I swear by my tube amp - reactive load setup. It simply allows me to play my tube amps at any level and any setting and it's highly flexible tone wise because of the wide range of IRs I can combine with my amps. I've been using the Fractal Audio LB2 X-Load for years and it's a very solid load. It does have a certain sound though and after all these years I really wanted something new and perhaps something with a superior sound ar well...
Enter the RedSeven Amp Central reactive load! I found out about this device by watching a YouTube video and I was immediately interested. Mostly because they claimed to have put a lot of effort into getting the sound and feel of the analog reactive load section just right.
It also has IR loading with 16 slots (20ms length) and a stereo FX loop! It has Dual XLR or jack balanced outs and also a line out (without the IR applied) and a dedicated volume control. It also has stuff like a headphones output and level control etc. So it has a bunch of great features basically?
But does it sound good? Because that's what is the most important thing to me. Luckily I'm really impressed by the sound! When I compared it to my fractal the sound seemed a little bit warmer, dynamic and natural overall. The LB2 seemed to have this subtle bright "sheen" over it that made everything sound slightly homogeneous. The sound I'm getting from the AC is just great and it seems to work well with a wide range of amps.
Anyway, I can talk about this for ages. It's a fairly new company as far as I'm aware but I'm curious if anyone has ever tried one? Here's a little demo and review video that I made with a bunch of different amps, just to see how it sounds:
