Is there an easy way to bypass the tone pot in an EMG 81 bridge pickup installed with EMG's quick-connect system? Something sounds off with the bridge pickup, like the tone pot is rolled down slightly. I'm trying to rule out the tone pot being defective first before exploring other options.

Any other tips would be welcome.

Doesn't it have its own connector? I've got EMGs in a guitar with no tone control and, IIRC, I just never plugged it in. If I am remembering correctly, you can just disconnect it.

Take a picture, and i will tell you exactly what to do

I'm not at home to take photos at the moment, but here's the wiring diagram per EMG.

Looks like you'd just plug the output cable into where the master tone is connected above.

Updating this in case anyone arrives by Google search. Bypassing the tone pot completely removed the weird cocked-wah tone I was getting with the 81 bridge. The output is now also higher and matches my old ESP M-II (which coincidentally has no tone pot!!!).

I don't know what ESP is doing with the tone pots in these new quick connect systems, but it was have a detrimental affect on the tone. I tried 2 different brand new EMG tone pots and they both had the same weird affect on the tone.

Looks like there's some others out there with similar issues...

After years of incredulity, I found that tone pots have a use when playing tan pants music.

But I think of EmGs for metal. And a knob that makes your guitar sound like shit doesn't belong in high gain
