Revv 100P MK II...educate me

I've seen TONS of Revvs all over Youtube, Guitar Center is selling some used ones (mostly the little ones), I see Ben Eller and Robert Baker with them in the background or being used, they're EVERYWHERE but I've never really heard much of them. I am interested in a MK II 100P I can across, but most info I find are on the newer MK IIIs.
 
They are ultra modern sounding.

Which isn't my thing, but it's very popular. Esp the "purple" crunch channel.
 
Oh, so it doesn't do a good rock or modded marshall type sound? Most everyone plays downtuned stuff on it but Shawn Tubbs I think his name was had some pretty good clean and basic rock sounds coming out of it.
 
I had an MKII 120 that had purple and red. The II Purple is a good one to get and the better of the 2 hi gain channels. Purple has a modern polished clarity to it that just works in a mix without any eq. I profiled the amp and use these as my main tone- and would likley get another one soon.

The III offers built in Two Notes cab sims, but if you don't need that and see a good deal on a II, go for it
 
I have a 100p MkII. The clarity, in my opinion, is phenomenal. The amp has note definition that you just don’t find elsewhere. My main amps live are my ENGL Savage and my Purple Nightmare. But sometimes I will still run the 100p. I don’t think it pairs well with my precision drive, so usually i drive it with an Airis Savage Drive or a Direwolf to get it where I want. It’s really a great amp man.
 
I’ve never seen a Rev pop up on my area . I’d love to try one to see if I like . I hear good and bad
 
I had the 100p mk2 and now I have the 120 mk3 . Either way the purple channel is where its at. Both versions sound very close so as others said uf you dont need the IR and reactive load then the mk2 is a great choice. The mk3 is a little thicker with a little less upper mid focus. Its not a huge difference though.

To my ears these amps sound like a mix of a really good Engl, maybe the savage mixed with a 5150. Something along those lines. They have a good deal of compression but not too much for me. I If you like a really polished mix ready tone they are great.
