There are probably enough Fender Strats already out there to have one in every household. If everyone who wanted a Strat bought used, Fender would make zero profit. Ha.

Makes no difference to me whatsoever, and if I ever play anywhere, the 3 people that come to watch wont care either. If it alienates me from these music industry/influencer types, then all the better!

I bought my American Standard Strat in 1998, because I liked it. It was nothing got to do with whether I trusted the company. Yes, it had a reputation but after playing it, I liked it.

And...None of my guitar heros gave a shit either.

Yeah, I couldn’t give a shit about it either. But I do agree with a Rick that their playability is for shit. I’ve been picking up Strats off the racks on and off for the last few months and haven’t found one that played as a keeper.

I have to agree with this. The Ultra Luxe Vintage I bought earlier this year is light years ahead of the 90s MIA fat strat (was it a "Lone Star"? Can't remember) that was the first guitar I ever bought.

I'm still fairly pissed at Fender though. I care a lot more about Anderson, Suhr, ESP, hell even PRS than I care about Fender.

Bought a MIJ Strat from Japan last month and it is flawless.

I always assumed that the Ultra Series was their answer to the Suhr's and Andertons's of the world.

That's my assumption. I A/Bed it against a couple Suhrs and my stainless refretted PRS EG3 (which is a pretty awesome rare strat type guitar) and it played about as well.

I'd like to see Fender get ownership of the Strat body design.

Some makers have made new and different derivatives which won't be pursued by Fender. Other makers have really made close copy / knockoffs that are so close it would be hard to tell them apart just from the body, or without seeing the neck, neck-join, inlays or even headstock.

How close they match or don't from a jury of non-guitar players in court? Who knows. Are the distinct differences sufficient to tell them apart? Who knows.

I'm not a strat expert, though I've owned a few over the years...if you put several Strat-style bodies side by side, I'd be able to tell some maybe, not all...

Guess we'll see eventually.

I own a Fender Strat and Jag; both are just fine for my needs.

Once I realized that he didn't know Fender owns Charvel and makes EVH's- I had to fade out on this. Then the rant about them coming after Allan Holdsworth and the only good thing that came out of that was that he actually made ME feel young for a few minutes with his ill informed, not grounded in reality old man rant. Fender hasn’t even existed in my mind fir like 30 years . Not a company a care for
Guitars or Amps . Just because your first doesn’t mean great . I mean any product I buy from then would have to be heavily modified . Too much work for me . So I kinda just ignore them

It is possible to still appreciate (or love) an instrument and yet disagree with their decisions. Hell, I disagree with some of Dave Friedman's opinions on things, but that wouldn't stop me from buying an amp from him.

i’m boycotting the yt clickbait tirades on this subject. what would be hilarious is fender going after these pontificators for defamation.

but my brother in law told me a great story yesterday. his famiy moved to Fullerton when he was 8 and their church was connected to the Fender factory so they actually had to walk though the doors of the Fender property to get to the front of the church.
when no one was looking, he would grab a fistful of steel ball bearings for his slingshot, which the factory used to burnish their parts.
i told him he shoulda nabbed some pickups!
