Rick Beato on Fender Controversy

There are probably enough Fender Strats already out there to have one in every household. If everyone who wanted a Strat bought used, Fender would make zero profit. Ha.

He's full of shit. Heres why:

"Fender have alienated everyone thats ever bought a Fender strat"

I dont feel alienated. Why would I? I like my strat. Thats it.

"People dont want to be seen with a Fender branded guitar."

Makes no difference to me whatsoever, and if I ever play anywhere, the 3 people that come to watch wont care either. If it alienates me from these music industry/influencer types, then all the better!

"Fender have destroyed the trust of their customers"

I bought my American Standard Strat in 1998, because I liked it. It was nothing got to do with whether I trusted the company. Yes, it had a reputation but after playing it, I liked it.

And...None of my guitar heros gave a shit either.

So far removed from the average dude in the street, and illogical.
Yeah, I couldn’t give a shit about it either. But I do agree with a Rick that their playability is for shit. I’ve been picking up Strats off the racks on and off for the last few months and haven’t found one that played as a keeper.

The quality control in the 70's, 80's and 90's was worse than it is now.
I have to agree with this. The Ultra Luxe Vintage I bought earlier this year is light years ahead of the 90s MIA fat strat (was it a "Lone Star"? Can't remember) that was the first guitar I ever bought.

I'm still fairly pissed at Fender though. I care a lot more about Anderson, Suhr, ESP, hell even PRS than I care about Fender.

Why should anyone that bought an actual fender feel alienated ?

And 99.9% of players will never hear about this “controversy”

Fender just waited 50 years too long. It just seems silly to put the toothpaste back in at this point.

I have no problem with what Fender is doing. I wonder what the reaction would be if Marshall went after all of the companies making amps that look like a Marshall.

The Ultra's are a step above but consistency is shit, lots of problems.
