Was lucky enough to see Warrant with Jani about 3 years ago before he left the band again...they were phenomenal. RIP Jani.

Hate it turned to this. It's clear he had a serious struggle with alcohol and drugs.
I wasn't the biggest Warrant fan but respect their contribution to 80's metal.
RIP Jani. I guess his struggle is over now.

Warrant was one of my favorite bands as a kid. Uncle Tom's Cabin and I Saw Red are still some of my all-time favorite tunes. RIP Jani! Too young to leave us, that's for sure.

^This.... RIP Jani this is a very sad day

That must have been early in the reunion. We opened for them in August of '08 and Jani was just horrible. It was sad to see how much he had deteriorated, couldn't sing, remember lyrics, or anything. After the gig, he walked down the sidewalk in the opposite direction of their hotel, just wandering. The rest of the band huddled together and were horribly embarrassed. It was sad. A couple days later, the reunion was over, and Lane was out.

These guys really were one of my favorites of that era. Lane was such a great songwriter and performer. He'll definitely be missed.

RIP - man I always thought that guy had tons of talent. Uncle Tom's Cabin is still one of my all time fave tunes to rock out to.

Hell yeah!!! I Love Uncle Toms Cabin!!! I loved alot of their stuff, some of it was cheezy but there was a wealth of great material. Overall, a great band that delivered a lot of fun music..

RIP Jani...

Yeah, Dog Eat Dog is a KILLER album!
really really good, took me totatlly by surprise when I first heard it...

Not surprised in the least given what I've heard and seen in recent years... Sad... talented dude...

Played a few shows with Warrant in LA before they got signed... not even sure it was all the same guys though. Singer had black hair the times we played with them, which is weird because some of the articles are saying he joined Warrant in '84 and this woulda been '85... I think the lead singer's name at that time was Adam if I remember correctly and he played guitar...

Sad news. First heard viewing a yahoo story that said "80's rocker dies", and I was like "oh no, who is it??"

I was just listening to Uncle Tom's Cabin last night! Great tune, along with Mr. Rainmaker, I Saw Red, Down Boys.

RIP

Wow, just a real shame! We used to cover some of that cheeze, back in the day. Fun songs to play and Jani always had a way with his writing...loved his hooks.

RIP my brother, my heart goes out to his whole family.
