Irony is ironic. He's made a career of it.

Seriously awesome guys.

Not too much into religion, but last time I did attend church the drummer I saw was phenomenal.

Ended up running into him in the parking lot and talked music for a good 20 min.

Was a really cool guy.

I dont get the rig with the skulls at church....

Side note :

I am still not very into religion but some of you may appreciate that Last weekend I threw away a garbage bag half full. of cd's. Slayer, Deicide, ect. Anything Satanic went bye bye

marc ford's rig with the vox italian wah modded by teese i gave him and he just kills me with:

doyle dykes a couple of years back, tearing down his sedona/pedal rig-he borrowed a fender deluxe from another player at our church, which i sold her years ago after having it blackfaced at mojave/plexi palace, for a stereo rig. he showed me his keeley compressor he got from eric johnson, and a unpainted klon centaur pedal he got by calling the builder and picking up in person like a week later!

I don't "do" church... Ain't comfortable for me. But I have no qualms with those who do...it it what it is. But I have to laugh at some of these rigs, damn fine.

Interestingly enough I read a lot of this "P&W gear/rigs" talk around different forums. I wasn't sure what it was till someone pointed out that it's "praise and worship". I was pretty surprised. We're just not as church-going up here in Icebackland. A generalization that can be met with some contempt I am sure - as there are indeed church goers up here - just not as entrenched as it would seem in the general populous of the US.

I was at a church recently and there was a Budda head on stage. Thought that was funny.

I played in a Christian praise band that had a Buddhist for the drummer, great guy and he enjoyed being there even though it wasn't his thing.

the guitar player discussed the skull thing-he got a lot of negative feedback as you'd expect--- and for him it was a reminder that every time they played, he wanted it to be like their last time, and that life is very fragile and that someone in the audience might not be around tomorrow so be bold and clear about the message they are singing about. finally he added he thought skulls were cool because they demonstrated God's creativity and like snowflakes, no two are identical.

so all in all it was a pretty positive thing :)

I've really been enjoying my new Uberschall lately. Has a great clean channel and the effects loop works great! The gain channel really cuts thru, takes pedals well, and is fun to play! Cranking it up at my church gig this week....sounded great at practice!

I've got a real thing for skulls, and have had since I was in my early teens. It's become a normal thing - all my friends and acquaintances get me odd "skull" gifts now and then; my home has a bunch of [what some would say is macabre] skull art; I've got day of the dead figurines everywhere... But for me and my family - it's normal - as it is to all our friends. We've had people ask "you have young kids, do you think that's suitable?!?!" and we're like "kids aren't scared unless you put fear in them" and perfectly timed, my 4 year old daughter knocks on the side of her head and says "that's a skull, we have one in each of our heads and they're remarkably beautiful". No kidding, this is what my 4 year old daughter said and says.

I dig skulls. I dig skulls for many of the same reasons this guitarist the aforementioned band digs them.

i've been through enough at my church to realize that anything out of the stereotype of what the general public deems appropriate, not so much bible-knowledge based, just personal feelings, becomes grounds for condemnation.

i'm sure there are old folks in the seats that don't approve of me hitting my peacemaker with a vertex modded plexitone on sunday morning!

Same as th UK. There's just no permeation of religion into public life. For me, that's a good thing - but each to their own.

That was religious stuff, just the opposing team..!

I wonder how much of the hyped satanic stuff is the same as the hyped TV evangelists, both making money off suckers living in a fantasy world.

I respect real religion, the bottom feeders in it for the $, that is another story.. :gethim:

amen.

yesterday it snowed in our town-very rare once a year occurrence- and on my way home 4 guys from our church have this cool ministry where they set up on the side of the road,

(the same road ironically where that cop killer guy used to get up to big bear, and where superbowl sunday, that tour bus from tijuana crashed and killed 8 people--i could hear the sirens from my house blaring for house)

with a "need prayer?" sign and just pray with people. they were out there in the snow huddled under a e-z up tent, where they have been for the last year, every friday evening.

so i gave them one of my two pizzas i got for dinner for the fam. sometimes church can be cool.

my son grew up in our church playing on jr high/high school worship teams, and it carried over to hawaii where he played at church there too. he got an opportunity to play with a successful cover band featuring a prominent local radio dj, and here he is in the studio on a live oahu radio program playing cajon and fending off miss hawaii's advances

point is, i just don't see the same kind of community and opportunities happening with counterfeit religion

OT: pagan gold, or is it tangerine? but with a pointy? do tell? Oh la la!!!

People at my church keep bugging me to join the P&W band. I can't really see me opening up the 5153 at church. :) I also know that if you put a mic in front of my face I tend to curse like a sailor. I guess that comes from years of playing in bars. I think the main reason that I've resisted is that if I joined the church band it would mean the end of me playing in a normal band. The wife wouldn't let me do two at once...lol.

How is that lonely 12" handling all 120 watts of that Uberschall?

bro bro when my wife "volunteered" me to play for our church i was so mad at her. i had no desire to play for church, wasnt into the music, awkward etc
and here i am some 15 years later still at it, and the music is actually pretty cool now!
