I just received some (3) mashutsa 12ax7s from fuzz audio and put them in my lil Elvis. It had all JJs in there, except one 12ax7 was a seimens. I also grabbed 2 el84 Mullard pulls off ebay. Just put them all in yesterday. Yesterday was My first time fooling around with vintage tubes.

I scored a nos GE 12ax7 from 1957 off eBay for cheap. ( $25 ) and I put it in v1 of my Vicky verb. Might be placebo effect, but I think I can hear more note separation when driving the amp.
It Definitely has something “better” about it now. Even when clean as can be.

Every tube manufacturer and type sounds different.

Hell, tubes vary from sample to sample for that matter.

Once you find a combination you like - leave it!

NOS tubes can be hit or miss in that some are noisy and the like when you get them from random sellers.

Of course, fuzz audio is top dollar stuff but they guarantee them for noise, etc and are highly filtered through.
