Why is it that people continue to post stuff for sale and do not post pictures? Is it that hard? Are the rules in Latin?

The classified ads do not have time restrictions so the excuse of "I'm at work, will post pics when I get home" just doesn't make sense. Wait until you have the pictures before posting.

Or they say; "I don't have any pics, but can certain snap some for anyone interested."

I suppose they are doing the rest of us a favor. If they can't follow the simple rules, do you really want to buy from them?

Lazy or stupid, you decide.....

/end of rant.

Lot of this lately, and then a few who bump their sale thread 2 or 3 times a day...guy yesterday trying to trade his amp bumped his thread 3 times in about 15 hrs

More of what you're saying, Mike!

And, no, I absolutely would not buy from someone that has not posted pictures. In fact, if there is only one picture, or all of the pictures are blurry, it typically turns me off as well. Just post some clear photos for the love of God.

I'll add one more thing to the rant, although it's not really something that pisses me off. It's actually a piece of friendly advice. Here we go......

For those that have taken the time to take photos, please do not upload them to your ad as an attachment, because attachments haven't been working properly on the site for over a month now. Please link to your photos in an online account, like Photobucket. This way, we'll actually get to see the fruits of your photography labour.

Peace.

There is a lot to be said for a for sale item by the way the owner lists it for sale. Some ads I just click away from immediately because you know that someone who can't take decent pics, provide a proper description, or type a coherent sentence is very likely going to be a pain in the ass to deal with.

Another thing that seriously bugs me is declarations. There was a vintage amp listed not long ago in the RT classifieds that had a bunch of work done to it and still the seller thought it was worth quite a bit. The sad thing is that it had transformer changes which is one of the biggest devaluations this particular type of amp could ever have. He did not declare that until the third or fourth bump when people started asking about originality. That should have been the VERY FIRST sentence in his original post's description. I have seen it time and time again. I steer completely clear of those folks.

Wow. NOT cool. Should such a transgression in fact be "ban worthy"? If we know of sellers that purposefully withhold important facts from a classified listing, why should they be permitted to continue selling here?

Debate? I'm open to hearing both sides of the argument...... :m4:

I don't think this guy was intentionally trying to hide it, I just don't think he thought it was that big of a deal so he didn't list it. I can't understand that because when I list something I am ridiculously detailed even if it is a miniscule scratch or imperfection.

Yeah, I kind of figured that maybe it was an honest omission. However, like you, I would definitely have mentioned that in my listing right from the get-go. The OT and PT are two of the most important components in the entire amp so anytime they are non-original it should definitely be mentioned in a listing.

I think most of us remember that post. As more replies were posted it became more clear to stay away from it. I too do not think the owner was trying to lie but his leaving the info out pretty much meant no one was going to buy the amp.

It is the outright not following the rules that burns me. There was another recent post where the lister wanted the best offer, he did not post a price. I would just delete these posts, no warning, no second chance. They can repost when they get their act together.

While I am on the soapbox, what is going on with attachments? 1/2 the time you can't view them.

I remember that one..

I have only been here a few years, but it seems you guys that are long timers and steady gigging musicians can spot the fly shit in the pepper. I have spent a few K buying gear from just a few people. The comments about not taking good pics, lack of repairs or component changes, and current defects matter a lot.

The biggest red flag? Hearing someone bitch and have a meltdown over how some detail in a deal did not go down right. Then listen for both sides to come out and find they have selective memory and a little drama queens... I write that user name down to never deal with. No drama queens for me.

Keep up the good on getting people to follow simple rules. There are great deals in here. There are also experts on just about anything one could ask that are lurking

General Stupidity- no known cure.

I especially like the ones when you link them the rules and then the next post is like what is the problem? , like they can't read through the list and figure it out.

I also wonder what the thinking is ? Hey I'll just post some stuff for sale, I doubt they have any rules ? You should be able to just about figure it out from looking at other stuff posted for sale.

It appears that there is a problem using the attachment feature on the site right now, doesn't seem to stop anyone from using it even though it's not working. Too lazy to upload to a free host site I guess.

Brad is too nice of a guy, like mentioned above I would just delete rogue posts and let them figure out why, may have to read rules eventually or go somewhere else.

Speaking of which...

I have a guitar for sale. Send me $1400 and I will send you a guitar. I'll include a case for the guitar. You can PM me with serious offers only. Low-ballers will be ignored.

Presentation is key.

Use a wet rag to wipe the dust from the item.

Turn on the lights when taking a picture......and many more.

I know and this has happened to me a few times when uploading pics. You have to do it 3 or 4X until it works right!!!

The Classifieds went to shit since the Moderators got fired....nobody to keep the mess cleaned up.

Most of us who bought and sold a lot though, would only buy and even only sell to certain folks. I wouldn't buy an amp from someone I didn't know on here. I have chosen not to sell to a few as well. if I thought the amp or mod was too much for them.

My beef though....receiving an amp obviously packed by an idiot. If the packing job is an indicator of how the owner cared for an amp or respected the buyer.

I shut a guy down once on a very expensive amp that I was selling because he was asking a million questions and was obviously super nervous about buying the amp. After probably a 5 or 6 pm exchange it became apparent that it was better for me to just tell him to move on. Those types of folks tend to have a bit of drama surrounding them so in our pm discussion I said I think it is best if he find another amp. EVen though I really wanted to sell it the vibe was headed for drama I could tell.

Brad definitely needs to add some mods at least for the classified section, it does get silly at times now. Well, when I buy an amp from someone here, I watch to see if they have a history here. If they do, it is easy to see what they are capable of doing.
There are guys here I would not buy an amp from, we have seen the results before. Fortunately it still isn't that hard to figure out.

You saved yourself a lot of pain.
