The Classifieds went to shit since the Moderators got fired....nobody to keep the mess cleaned up.

Most of us who bought and sold a lot though, would only buy and even only sell to certain folks. I wouldn't buy an amp from someone I didn't know on here. I have chosen not to sell to a few as well. if I thought the amp or mod was too much for them.

My beef though....receiving an amp obviously packed by an idiot. If the packing job is an indicator of how the owner cared for an amp or respected the buyer.

Brad definitely needs to add some mods at least for the classified section, it does get silly at times now. Well, when I buy an amp from someone here, I watch to see if they have a history here. If they do, it is easy to see what they are capable of doing.
There are guys here I would not buy an amp from, we have seen the results before. Fortunately it still isn't that hard to figure out.

I don't like links either. If a seller is too lazy to post the fucking picture, I am not redirecting from the site to go look at anything. Don't understand that.

I agree. I would NEVER buy anything without seeing detailed pictures first. You see this in the used car market too. If you're too lazy to snap a few fair quality shots, I have absolutely no interest in what you're peddling.

edited for spelling

I always linked to my Photobucket account so that buyers can see hi-res pictures without taking up tons of Brad's (generously free) bandwidth or making guys scroll for 5 minutes to reach the bottom of the page.

And I agree. We need more mods back on site.

Another thing that seriously bugs me is declarations. There was a vintage amp listed not long ago in the RT classifieds that had a bunch of work done to it and still the seller thought it was worth quite a bit. The sad thing is that it had transformer changes which is one of the biggest devaluations this particular type of amp could ever have. He did not declare that until the third or fourth bump when people started asking about originality. That should have been the VERY FIRST sentence in his original post's description.

Wow. NOT cool. Should such a transgression in fact be "ban worthy"? If we know of sellers that purposefully withhold important facts from a classified listing, why should they be permitted to continue selling here?

Debate? I'm open to hearing both sides of the argument...... :m4:

I'm all for the ban hammer for this crap. I haven't bought from here in a long time b/c of a similar situation. Advertised as stock and after a few PM's seller decides to say he modified the circuit. I occasionally still look in the classifieds but more to get a feel for the used market than to purchase.

You can always copy and paste the image code from PB photos and put it in the ad. It uses no RT bandwdith to do and is soooooooo much easier than going to someone's PB account and looking at the pics. It just looks better in the ad, too.

There's very few people on here I will send to or receive money from.

+10000000000

why DID he get rid of mods?

Presentation is key.

Use a wet rag to wipe the dust from the item.

Turn on the lights when taking a picture......and many more.
And keep your ugly bare feet out of the pics!!! ;)

I've only done a few deals on here and they went smoothly. Pet peeve though, is when they can't spell or use "phone-onics". If you can't spell to sell your item, what makes me think you're going to spell my name or address right? If you're trying to sell a 3k item, do it professionally. Would never buy something from someone that can't correctly describe the item they're trying to offload.

Fuck. Guilty.

I can see if its something small (pickups, pedals, ect)

I am guilty of that myself. I mean who needs to see an F spaced super distortion for $35??

However, if I am selling an amp or guitar I would never post without pics. Face it, good pics sometimes is all it takes for a sale....but for small items for under $100 say? Im good with not needing a pic for that kind of stuff

just my .02

Some for sale ads look like after thoughts from a long night of getting buzzed at the practice pad.

Guy realizes he is short on cash, looks around takes a quick fuzzy photo with his phone and posts the ad online. But linking photos can be more of a hassle with some phone designs, so they say fuck it it's good enough.

Much of the nonsense, IMHO, has to due to age related "premature e-cash-ulation". You know, either you're jacked up - wanna sell, gotta sell, post to sell - and pictures take "patience" and "diligence". Fuck, you think most of the iYouth today have either of those? Hell no, it's all about "instant gratification". So ya, finding the folder of the photos on one's already cluttered computer requires "work". And work is simply too much to expect from someone with a bit of slobber hanging outta their mouth, iPhone welded to their hand, Facebooking on the shitter, texting instead of talking, and jonesing when there isn't any wifi availalbe. It's a culture. It's also a disease.

Bad packing? No surprise. Cash is usually already in hand by the time the tape gun needs to be utilized. And god forbid man, if finding a picture of said item on one's computer is to laborious, imagine packing? Or this thing called "foresight"? Impossible. Won't happen.

Not being a downer, just a realist.

Just sayin'...

Yeah...no. Need a pic no matter what the item costs.

Example: Dude is selling a pickup and swears there is tons of lead left but when you get it there is much less than specified.

One person's idea of a " a bunch" or "really good shape" is another guy's "what the fuck?" no matter how much money may be involved.

Here's one from today:

As stated in my ad I have an issue with my photobucket account and am currently unable to host a picture. If anyone can help then great if not then I will remove the listing but I am trying to rectify my photobucket issue.

Even better, linking the ad to another forum because person is too lazy to do a poper listing here...I call BS on that!
