Say hello to my little friend, Uberschall Rev 2.

I absolutely love this amp, just did a quick clip between clients (5 minutes for set up and tracking);

Recto cab 8 ohms
421>1073
PR20>1073

Probably could have laid off the low end but it just felt so good. The guy said they are the original tubes from 8 years ago. I used my Black Paul for the first minute and my Sunburst for the second minute, you can hear me unplug the black and plug in the sunburst.

Congrats on the mega score!!

My former TJ is the one amp I wished I'd kept.

Crank it and love it!!

Thanks guys, I just put it in my rack behind the console. I can't wait to use it and blend it with other amps.

Hey James,

Here's my favorite tube combination:

JJ E34L power tubes - try these before you mod the amp for KT88's

v1 Tung-sol 12AX7 re-issue
v2 Shuguang 12AX7 9th gen
v3 Shuguang 12AX7 9th gen
v4 JJ EC803S
v5 Shuguang 12AX7 9th gen - balanced
v6 Shuguang 12AX7 9th gen - balanced

The Tung-sol RI and JJ ECC803S really open up the clean channel.

Please try this, you'll love it even more!!

Try these settings below with a nice EMG 81/85 equipped mahogany body guitar, it's magical with the master volume at 12:00 noon. This works great with my V30 loaded Recto cabs.

This is my clean settings for the amp with the Tung-Sol RI in V1 and the JJ ECC803S in V4.

glad to hear youre digging the rev 2...ive had mine for about 8 years and dont imagine its going anywhere.

since we're on the subject of the uberschalls unusual EQ, here's something for you to try. next time youre messing around on the distortion channel, try turning the treble down all the way and using the mids to bring the high end back in. it kind of reminds me of how i dial the fizz out of my mesa recto sometimes.

ive got serial number 340, so i imagine yours is pretty similar to mine.

Here's my favorite setting:

Volumes- To taste
Presence- 10:00
Treble- 2:00
Middle- 10:00
Bass-10:30
Gain- 1:30

I will make a nice clip when I retube it and have a little time to mess around.

I like these:

Now that's the amp you should have purchased. The Mako! Those are the $h!t

Thanks for all the negativity man. I'll run out tonight and get 2 of them and make a nice clip for you.

it's a really easy mod for the KT88. All that is involved, is piggybacking the bias resistor for more current. I emailed Bogner a while back, and they said the transformer could take it no problem. You do however have to account for the size of the specific KT88 you want. I'm not sure on the layout with the Rev 2, but the blue had the transformer VERY close to the tubes, so you have a clearance issue there if the tube is fat. I tried some KT88/6550 in the Uber and the XTC, and it was pretty cool in both amps. Tightened them up a bit, extended the highs/lows, does what you would expect with the added headroom. The grind is different though, and the feel gets a little stiffer. If you didn't like the TJ, you may not dig KT88's in the rev 2. Although it's not the same animal, it's definitely ballpark IMO.

Thanks man, maybe I'll stay where it's at for now.
It's worth a shot if you are curious, the amp will still sound mean either way, and it's an easy mod to reverse. Lasse is a really cool guy to talk to, and he gets some killer metal tones out of his. I'm sure he would give you his opinion if you contacted him. Laura's sounds great too.

btw, HNAD! I think it will make a great addition to your studio.

Loving mine -#335 and yes louder is better. I think it's absolutely killer and am glad you like it too. KILLER amp!!

Yeah I'm excited about getting it going, the tubes are the originals and must be 8 years old, so I spoke with the 'Valve Queen' tonight and gonna get some new tubes going on. Then break'em in and hopefully make the record of my lifetime. 2012 is big year, I have a lot of ultra high end work going on, hopefully some game changing s**t. Either way I'm really excited about adding this throaty dark tone to some of my rhythm tracks. Using it as a passage way from the guitar to bass. I've been working with a major league producer lately using his Uber blended with the modded Marshall/SLO and Uber/Mesa thing and it is just absolutely killer.

Very nice! Congrats!

The Uber and the Twin Jet are so easy to dial + your EQ settings, while practicing alone, are almost the same when with the band. For example, with the Diezel VH4 and Herbert, I turn up the Mids more, less Bass, and boost the Intensity and Level of the Mid Cut when with the band. Any other Bogner and Diezel owners experience this?

Yes!

I think it's cool that 3 Rig-Talkers have a short production run among them- #335, 336, and 337.
