DOOD!!!!!!! I think im going to be sick.... So so sorry to hear this man.

This was my guitar and its an awesome burst with killer flame... What he did was criminal. Friend or no friend id beat the dough out of him. So fucked.... Contact Suhr and have it refinished.... Might cost a few but prolly less than the value loss of the damage.

Its a dog toy or your guitar was doled out a dose of blunt force trauma. I'd guess the asshole dropped it.

Holy shit this makes me mad. My condolences sir.

he has a 4 pound king Charles, the dogs mouth would struggle to get around my pinky finger. was not his dog. plus there was no signs of moisture or dog slobber.

Yeah dog that size probably unlikely but I'd bet he dropped it or it hit the deck somehow. That so sucks no matter how he did it. And to not man up is ridiculous. A very good friend of mine picked up my Les Paul case at a gig in college and did not realize the case was open. Les Paul hit the deck and the neck fractured like nuts. The guitar was trash in an instant. My friend's first words were " I don't know how Im going to pay for this….:" and hell Im the one that left the case open and turned my back to grab something. I was beyond upset but my friend took the fall and I never once held what happened against him.

So sorry man.

Did you have strap locks on it? if so, did he have the strap or did he use one of his without the matching strap/lock?

Had a similar thing happen with my Harley... My follow up to "i dont know how im going to pay but i will" was.... Dont worry about it.... I wouldnt take his money cuz he manned up. This guy is a weasel.

Damn...sorry man. The chips suck but the buzzing/dead string makes me think your friend dropped the guitar and doesn't want to confess. Shitty situation. Hopefully the frets and/or neck are not damaged.

Yup.... Get what you give. He is giving you a bullshit story
And wants you to swallow it.
Guess true colors showing thru.
Honestly I would of manned up and made it right
But I don't have too many friends

Wow, I was thinking that you were just exaggerating but after seeing the pic, holy shit u were right, that's totally obvious. Have him at least own up to it and offer something towards it. I bet he was using one of those chain link guitar straps or something metal judging at where the chips are located.

I had a bad experience with a longtime friend once like this. Back in 99 I lent a childhood buddy my fender jags tang, I asked for it back after a few months and every time he would have some terrible excuse. After a few times with excuses I went to his place and it was gone and he had no answers. It turns out that his then girlfriend had acquired a crack habit(no joke) and pawned my guitar for like $60 and never got it back. When I figured it out the shop had already sold it. I kicked in my friends door and kept his les Paul deluxe( worth much more) to hold until I received reimbursement for my fender. He never paid so got to keep the les Paul after a year with no payment. Sucks when friends let u down.

Your already a friend. And a great lover

:inlove:

if you guys follow the link above you can see the other ding/dent/chips. just paid some bills. It will be a while before I can even think of getting this fixed. I am regretting paying my physical therapist months in advance because I had the cash. bummer dudes!

The good news is that Suhr will fix you up once you can afford it....

Sorry to hear it buddy. The damage looks absolutely shocking. You have every right to be livid. It takes effort to mistreat an item of that value.
I've lent equipment to close friends before now who have little concept of money & value. Where we would take extra care in looking after a friend's gear, for some people it barely even registers as a priority.

this is driving me nuts, the third fret on the b string is almost dead. it just sounds flubby and like shit but I cant figure out why??
Change the string.

Once again, the winner is glip22! Not only did he solve the CCV problem, but he also figured out the dead fret problem. It required a new string, that's it! There was a kink I guess from when he dropped it, I couldn't see it when the strings were on. Put a new set of my favorite super slinky 9s and it is good to go! Thanks glip22!!

I am still pissed as hell, but I take comfort in knowing that this thing still plays amazingly well, effortless just about, and it sound killer. Love that ssh+ pickup in the bridge. When I eventually get cash again, I will have to contact Suhr and see what they can do for me. Its has just become an eye sore, but at least it still plays/sounds amazing!

Why don't you relic it? It would make a cool project.

nahhh. rather have it looking primo like it did earlier this afternoon.

Fuck that douchenozzle! I hate assholes like that who don't even have the balls to man up to their mistakes!!! Fuck him!

I never lend anything to anybody, ever

Even a 3$ CD, I know it'll come back scratched or I'll just never see it again. People just don't give a fuck. And if they do, they don't give as much of a fuck as I do.

On another note, this thread just shows how materialistic we've all become.
29 year old friendship, gone
For a ding on a friggin guitar
Does it still play like a 3000$ guitar?

I don't think it has anything to do with the OP being materialistic.

It's all about respect IMHO. His so-called friend doesn't respect him enough or treasure their friendship enough to take care of his gear.

Regardless of how it plays, if I were to have lent a good friend a guitar, I would expect it to be returned to me in similar condition. Not worse.

I think it has to do with both
If ever, by freak accident, I lend something to someone, I don't ever expect to see it again
So this situation comes as no surprise to me, friend or no friend
