Wow, I've used greenbacks for so long my mind picks them even when I don't know consciously what it is. Pretty happy that my two picks were the speakers I would instinctively use anyway.

So the chinese made V30 rulez :-)

Having 4 2x12 with A and G is a good match for sure :-) (For me, my opinion, sorry moderator, excuse me for living and having an opinion, please do not infract me, or delete me :-)

Thanks for work and the results!

which one do you prefer lolzgreg?
the reissue or the heritage?
If you can describe the feel of the speaker...

I listened to the clips and ... I prefered A and D , later I saw that it's V30 China and Mesa.

Anyway , thanks for the clips lolzgreg.
This seven clips really reassured me that I love the sound of V30.

I've tried over 30 different speakers and recorded every one at different times. I am really not a fan of much, as I think many speakers have a very unnatural midrange, are bloated sounding, or are hashy.

I prefer D and F.

blackie13, as I said above, I like The Reissue Greenback (F) better as it has a bit more glass on the very top and is a bit less hashy. Some people would describe speaker E to be brighter than F, but I really think it's the opposite. E has more high mids, but F has more sheen.

I'm glad most of you AREN'T surprised by your choices, as it goes to show that you like what you like and pick it blind :)

No coincidence I picked the speakers I use all the time, my ears are tuned for those tones

Awesome set up and post man, thanks for taking the time to run this out...

Here's my thoughts:
A: balanced, sat nice in the mix, flat EQ'd
B: missing something in front
C: fizzy but decent, no cut
D: nice, sits well, cuts
E: scooped in a weird way and loose?
F: fizzy and hollow
G: decent

A, D, G were my preferences. For all different reasons.
How cool is that - V30, V30 and G12K100 - the exact speakers I own and love.

I'm pleased with my ears, and pleased with the results. I've stayed not strayed.

Thanks so much for pulling this together - very very cool soundoff of drivers

Now I'm going to go back and hear what the others sounded like knowing what they were

I voted just like most of the people here and at some point when Greg said "I guess tone ain't that subjective after all" I said to myself maybe that's not our own taste that dictates but what we're used to listen to from records. That's what "shapes" tastes when played a hundred thousand times.

I'm a fan of K100 (but only from just recently) and it wasn't close to my my first 3 I voted for. Maybe in a few years time when it establishes itself as the "new V30" standard more people would vote for it. Until the next "new V30" comes in and they start using on recordings and so on. It is actually subjective but it's not to our own taste but to what we're used to listen to. That was a great exercise Greg!

I'm glad you all enjoyed this one.

I doubt the K100 will ever be as popular as the V30, because it isn't as bold. The V30 seems to work with any good sounding amp, while the others are more selective.
