So recently i went to the Musicstore unplanned and had the Chance to try out the Badlander 100, The Bogner Helios Eclipse, SLO-100 and the EVH 5150 III 50 Watt 6L6 through a Bogner 2x12 with a Heritage Guitar H-150 which had a Price Tag of 1899.- probably because it's a Showroom Modell, i assume. Later i found it it's normally going for 2.5k.
The Badlander pleasantly surprised me, sounds like a thicker EVH 5150, but tight and open, even with the Gain maxed it had nice pinch harmonics. Ok, i know, not all of you are into nice harmonics
Out of the 2 i would pick the Badlander. But somehow i don't like Amps with built in USB-Ports and i'm also not a Fan of the fan.
The Eclipse was either not enough (in the hot mode iirc) or simply too much in the Eclipse mode. But the SLO sounded plain classy. Tight enough with standard and drop d tuning with the gain up to 7 i dialed it in like bass 7, mids 4, treble 4, presence 7, depth 8 and it was thick. I'd probably dial the Gain back to like 4 and boost it with my A Standard tuned ESP with EMG 81s.
I'm kinda tempted again...
So back to the question: Shall i give the SLO 100 another try?
Here's a little clip for you with the Lenz and the Ibanez 808 HW V2 (which hasn't been talked about and nobody seems to care) with a more modern sound (formerly known as scooped
) to listen to recorded on low volume, no eq, while you contemplate about this maybe life-changing question.
Seems like i ate a joke today.
Anyway
Bring them many answers.
