I have had a Shiva (older el34 w/ funky fx loop) for roughly 6 months now and really like it. I have been using an Alchemist 2x12 cab w/ a V30 and a 70th annv. G12 for a while and it's ok. Today, I went into a pawn shop and found an older, 8 ohm, rear loaded Uberkab with the V30/75 x pattern for $399  , it's now on lay-a-way. I played my Shiva through it and it didn't give me the exact sound I was looking for but for $399, I'm not passing up a deal like that.
My question is should I go for all V30's or do a mix of something? I am pretty sure it's the 75's that I didn't like. I have a couple of Scumbacks (M75 and H75 LHDC), a greenback, another V30, and a 70th annv. G12 to try, just trying to see what others have used with good success before I bring her home and start ripping her apart.
Any info would be great. Thanks in advance.

Brian.

That's a killer deal on an Uberkab. Just trade the 75s for V30s or Greenbacks and you should be good to go.

I have an Uberkab and I didn't like the 75's with the Shiva. Too much high end sizzle. The 75's worked very well with the Uberschall though. Since I don't have an Uber anymore, I pulled the 75's and now the cab is all V30's. Sounds pretty good, but my main cab is an Orange 4x12 with V30's and H30 Anniv. speakers in an x-pattern. It really thumps. I've been thinking about doing the same thing to my Uberkab, but haven't gotten around to it yet.

I am gonna try the scumbacks first since they're not loaded in anything right now then try a greenback and 70th annv. combo with the existing V30's.

T75's are just bad speakers. Celestion needs to get it together with that speaker. As owner of a few original Shiva's over the years, use Celestion V30's or Tone Tubby Red speakers and be done with it. The Classic Lead 80 and TT Chicago Blues also sounds good with that amp though next in line after the above. Several years ago, I was running an original Shiva through a 70's Marshall 4x12 with original blackbacks. I took out the blackbacks and replaced them with (4) Tone Tubby Red 16ohm speakers after trying them. I have tried and own different Celestion greenbacks, V30's, 70th Anniv, G12H30 Heritage(75c/s)... and nearly all of the Tone Tubby line with that amps. Do not overlook the speaker wiring too. Good luck!

Tone Tubby Red. Never crossed my mind but I might give those a shot too. Still gonna try out the Scumbacks because I already have them and see how that sounds.
