Short Henning PlexRod comparison clips

I liked both clips. Both sound excellent for this type of riff (rock). Either way, always like listening to your clips Steve.

I was messing around with my amp and testing some new studio stuff (mics, pres, etc.) and I made a two clips. These are basically identical with one minor mixing difference. Which one do you like better and why? Can you tell what is different? I'll let ya know how I recorded this and what is different later... I wanna se if it is obvious to others or not...

PlexRod is in the Plex (low gain) channel, Frankenstrat clone I made with EVH humbucker. Recorded LOUD:

I like #1 better for this particular tone. Don't know what you did different but I like the sound of the bottom "chug" better on the first clip and the overall tone seems more well rounded across the spectrum.

Ok - the only difference between the two clips is that Clip 1 has stereo micropitchshift (+9 cents L/-9 cents R, 5ms delay L/10ms delay R) from my Axe-FX Ultra mixed in. I can hear it, but it is just slightly there in the mix. It sparkles it up a bit to my ears... I wanted to see if anyone would hear it, but I guess it would need to be higher in the mix.

Interesting. I liked clip 1. Not sure I'd like it better if the micropitch was much louder.

I liked clip 1 a bit more. Both sound good. Clip 1 sounded thicker and rounder. Clip 2 sounded more cutting. Alone, I like Clip1 in a mix Clip 2 might cut better.

yup this is what I heard as well, Listened to loud, I thought that the difference was pretty obvious. I would have liked to hear a little more umph in the way of gain or bottowm end but it sounded pretty good. It sounded like what youd expect with volume on your guitar rolled off..

HA! Since I was going for a 70s, lower gain type sound, it was the first thing that came to mind, but I never really learned it so I'm sure I'm playing it wrong...
