Just moved into a new space, and the basement is mine! The PC is a brand new build. The Sig:X had to go, but I have a Herbert inbound, as well as a Mills Afterburner. Muhaha.

you need to move your desk to be in the middle. your monitors have crazy reflections when in the corner like that

Exactly what I was going to mention. Unfortunately I don't have the space in my renovated basement and am glued to a wall on one side so I think I am going to have to opt for headphones. You are right though. listening back to some stuff I had recorded while in the new position with a close sidewall, I was like WTF! This sounds like dog shit. The whole thing sucks.

Thanks for the feedback guys. Here are a couple more shots of that corner to clarify how much space I have. I am planning on mounting my monitors on stands to the sides of the desk. Even with that couple feet of space on the right, do you think it's still too close for reflections? Maybe I would be better off just putting it in the center of the wall, and having amps on both sides of the desk?

Yes, take down the shelves and put the desk in the center.
Some room treatment would be nice, but at the very least, you're gonna need a large area rug under the desk & chair, and out into the room a little.
That room, as it is now, is gonna be awfully bright and reflective.

I’ve noticed that lighting plays a huge roll in the appearance and vibe of rooms in general but especially music rooms. Im going to pay a lot of attention to it.

I’ll rephrase that. Lighting is important but having at least a 1:1 ratio of beer taps to amps is a necessity for any good music room.

Im thinking gear bnb. Dont even need the breakfast. Travel around, sleep on the couches, and sample the gear

Nice rooms guys... I'm one envious mofo ;) My stuff is scattered all across a 2 bedroom apartment where ever I can fit it... would kill to have all my stuff in one room.

Cool setup, but may I suggest bass traps in both corners there? They will probably do more for your sound than the scattered Auralex.

I sadly had to move interstate, so I stored my music equipment at the house of one of my family. After a whole year I only just managed to play all of the rig. Had to do it in the garage.
I do have a photo so will post it later. The background is not that impressive though (cupboards, barbecues, cowprint fridges).

What was interesting though is that the garage gave me ideas on how big to build a music studio, should the opportunity arise.
