No shit talking, just saying to me legato is easier than picking the same scale.

By the way, I would disagree with this because if one is accustomed to picking every note then hammers and pull offs aren't going to be a big part of their game because it's not practiced. It's a different feel and can mess with your timing during pure legato runs if it's not something that's practiced.

Well, you know, in my case I gotta use both hands at once. Just a sheer "size management" thing, that's all :dunno:

Tiny hands?
He likes to call them "midget" hands....thank you very much.

So I'll just refer to Ventura as "T-Rex" from now on then.....

Again not to take anything away from this guy he is amazing, but any scale that you can play; you should be able to do legato, pack a bowl, smoke it and drink a cup of tea while doing it.
I'll keep that in mind. Got any vids of you doing it?

Steve

I'm not much into the Youtube thing. You may have missed my post above. Send me a camera.

I said to me. I am sure it may not be for everyone.

Sounds like your doing the most of the hating in this thread.

I posted because I watched this video that made me think wow awesome scales, but legatos just as easy if not easier than picking the same scale whats the big deal.

Then I read everyone creaming in their pants over this so I wanted to see why everyone thought this was some Godly trick that no one on earth can do.

I'm a big hater dude. Ask anyone. I hate so much that I even hate hate. It's not easy, but I do it.

Although you're doing a pretty good job yourself.

Buy your own camera.

On another note, he is not just playing consecutive notes in a scale. If he were, I would not have posted this. You cannot do what he is doing in the video. Of course, not many people can. Playing legato is one thing. Being musical with only one hand like that is not and if you can't tell the difference I dunno what to tell ya...

Not read the thread, it might have been mentioned....

Yes he is totally amazing etc (well, he's English, what do you expect? ;) ), but he has the string dampeners, so any hammer ons are gonna sound nice.

Wait, I got it. maddnotez is really Stanley Jordan, and he's not impressed....

How fast perception goes from sarcasm to shit talking on the internet can't be measured or quantified by science as we know it.

Big data will solve that problem.

I'm impressed as I suck with tapping with my chewing gum finger, and I'm not multithreading enough to do something else while playing, switching the amp is my limit

Damn, I wanted to do it too :D

Guthrie did a clinic where i go to college the day after he played in the aristocrats tour at our performance hall last year. I sat front row and he just truly is a guitar genius. Me and a friend stayed until everyone else left and got to hang and chat with him a little bit. Really cool guy. During his clinic he basically said that part of his success at the instrument is due to going to this "big old ancient building full of paper" (the library) and reading guitar theory books as a kid. I remember he said you dont know a scale or mode truly unless you can hear it completely in your head and sing it out loud. He's just simply a true master of his craft. Learned a lot of other cool stuff from him that day, will never forget it.

Now that's cool !!!

PS: i'm selling all my gear, make offers

Sorry but I'm not seeing the big deal here  ...Wow, so the guy can play some lame chromatics and modes in all positions as well as jazz chord voicings effortlessly with one hand while carrying a conversation and doing something completely different with his other hand.?? I'll stick with the real talent, thank you very much.
