The lead tone of the Silver Jubilee is out of this world. If I had any reserve in my praise for the Jubilee, it would be that I find it kind of a balancing act with my pedal board to be able to get a great lead tone and a great rhythm tone at the click of a switch. What sounds good for rhythm doesn't necessarily sound good for lead tone, so it's kind of hard to find the right balance if you play gainier styles in my opinion

I do wish you could have the rhythm clip disengage when switching to lead. It gets a little too compressed for me if the clip stays on.

What model Astoria did you try?

The dual channel. I haven't seen another model come this way yet, but I'd sure like to try one again.

I honestly think it might be the best Aldrich I've had. I've had 3 others, and a 2203x that had a modern mod that was really good. But this Sovtek has a girth that is pretty special. And its about the size of a Kemper lol...I'd forgotten how good these Cameron's are.
Yeah I have a Sovtek MIG-100 myself and it does have quite a bit of girth like you're saying (more than the Marshalls). How'd the modern mod compare? Is that like a CCV or something else?

That amp was the first Cameron I had, before I was here on RT. It was kinda Mesa meets Marshall, IMO. Pretty heavy and tight but not as warm as a Jose or even an Aldrich. I flipped it quick because I knew I could get 2500, and I paid I think 1200. That's back when Camerons were going for big cash and everyone wanted one. But I should have kept it based on what I paid. Damn. :gethim: I've never played a CCV so I can't compare.

That description sounds like it could be like a CCV, especially the Mesa meets Marshall part. I've tried a CCV, Old Bitch, and Atomica and liked the CCV best, but I gotta try a Jose though one day and give the Atomica another chance since it was so long ago that I tried it
