I used to have a Powerball, but got rid of it because I didn't like how scooped it sounded at high volumes. I also wasn't a big fan of the clean or crunch channels. A bunch of people told me that they need a speaker with a lot of high mids like a V30 to sound good. Unfortunately, I had already sold it by the time I found that out. I'm probably going to be buying another one soon, so I need to get something like a V30. The reason I don't think the V30 will work for me is that I'm only going to be using (for a while at least) a single speaker. I want something with a high enough power rating to only need one. Is there an Eminence equivalent speaker, or possibly a different brand, that sounds like a V30 but has 100-150 watts? Or if I custom order a Weber, what specs should I use (other than the watts I want)?

I'm going to eventually be able to get a 2x12 cab for it, but for the time being it is going to have to be a 1x12.

I think the Powerball still sounds scooped and hi-fi with V30's. I just really dislike the mid voicing of that amp. I don't think any speakers are going to totally alter the general tone of that thing.

I liked the hifi quality of the sound - it just didn't cut well with my band. I've seen two band using them, though, and they had no problems with the sound cutting to my ears. I've also heard boosting the mids with an EQ in the loop helps, but supposdely the V30s make a huge difference.

Sounds good me with V-30's.......interesting even more is the difference in sound with different speaker cabs.......I prefer Powerball/Fireball with tighter sounding cabs like G-flex or Marshall over something boomier like a Mesa cab..

Ralph made some awesome clips a while back of the PB through a G12h-30 cab. Thats probably the best speaker you could use with that amp.

I used to own it too and I thought it sounded better with V30s than with 75 watters.

I didnt really like the mid voicing either, I used to have the Savage 120 and found it to be more what I was looking for.

I wouldn't have thought the G12H30 would work well w/ the Powerball, but then again, is there anything that speaker doesn't work well with?
