Editing my post, OP is below in this this post.

This morning I went to try out the purple straightfront cab.
It looks way better in person than in the pics I was sent, but it took literally 20 seconds of playing this thing before I knew I was leaving with it.

Soooo much low end available if needed.
I really do not understand why people say these sound thin. It sounds huge.
I'll mount some wheels on it to move around.
The high end headroom is also great and playing with the mids knob really dials in some hard backbone in the sound if needed.
Just a fantastic, raw, rich and chewy sound.
Does it sound like a Marshall? No. But I wasn't after that sound with this, otherwise I'd have a Marshall.
Cannot wait to let this thing loose on stage. Very happy.

This weekend I'm going to buy a Soldano 4x12 for my purple SLO that I just love. I'm not crazy about the colour, but the sound is mental.

I'm in Australia. I have about $775 US to go towards it.
I already have a slant Mesa Stiletto 4x12 with V30s that I use with my MKIII head.

The band plays alternative metal like Chevelle, Deftones etc....

Here's my options:

1) mid 90's black Soldano 4x12 straight cab in excellent condition with x1000's. Selling for about $760 US

2) unsure of age, purple Soldano straight 4x12. Average condition. Marks and tears mainly on top and back. X1000 speakers. Selling for around $690 US.

3) newer purple slant Soldano 4x12 with V12's. Good shape, some marks on top. Selling for about $615 US

What's the best choice in your opinion?

Depends on what you like. I find the old X12000's darker/smoother than the V12. However considering the price and condition I'd say go for #3.

I'm reading the v12's are pretty close to the Vintage 30s which I have in my Mesa slant cab.
Are the X1000's that much different to the V12?
Thanks for the input too.

I'm not a fan of Soldano 4x12's I have (5) 4x12 and the Soldano the weakest of the bunch...its just kinda average. My JCM800 1960A, Bogner, VHT FB 4x12's all are better cabs. My soldano cab is a front loader with V30's

i love soldano

but i hate their 4x12

on the other hand their 2x12 is pretty good.

the 4x12 just lacks balls, even loaded with same exact speakers compared with my other cabs side by side with an on the fly cab switcing system to allow instant comparison. your mind and ears forget if it takes longer than 4 seconds to compare sounds.

That Mesa cab you already have would be my choice...

If you are tempted to skip one of those three, find a good Greenback cab. In that price range I'd bet you could find a used Marshall TV, AX/BX or 425A/B. Since you have a good V30 cab already..I found GBs/65s sounded best when I had my SLOs.

Definitely a Greenback M25W 4X12 ... skip the Soldano FL cabs.

This is my thought as well. If you aren't hauling both amps to gigs and need two separate half-stacks, I'd use the SLO with the current cab you own.

Having said that, I've never tried the Soldano cabs. I've always played SLOs through Marshall cabs. I've heard good things about V30s. I like Greenbacks for a more classic sound. I have an old Marshall cab with G12-65s that's pure magic with my SLO. Those are a bit difficult to come by now though. They were unknown speakers when I got in them, but no I see them marked for silly prices.

Mine would be the mesa. I liked the soldano cabs best when I had 2 of them hooked up but 1 sounded a little small and boxy. Ive heard the 2x12 is superior and more low end.

Hmm...
Seems to be a consensus that the Soldano cabs aren't as big sounding.
I've also read that at stage volume the X1000 cabs sound absolutely huge.

Those who are saying the Soldano cabs sound weak, was this at home or on stage?

It's a compact front-loaded cab so it's more tight than big/deep sounding. I downtune a lot so that balance things out. But I can understand people using standard tuning not liking it, especially when not playing with a bass player.

But do I agree that it's not really the best cab around (not even the best front-loaded cab). Unless you're dead set on having a matching stack might as well look into something else.

Most of our songs are in drop C#.
3 piece band.
I'll be using this cab mainly on stage and we're goddam loud haha.
The SLO has that signature wet squish to it, it's not tight and dry like a Mesa Mark. Maybe a front loaded cab is a good balance for it.

I'm on my way to checking out that purple straight cab. The guy sent me some other shots and it's in better shape than I first thought.

Grabbed that purple straight front. Monster sound.
Edited the OP.

Very cool Jet City cab, I love mine too. Mine, loaded with V-30s, is great. Congrats on the Jet City cab.

Is the purple one the one with the x1000? Those are Eminence, right? The SLO is so picky about speakers. I've been running it with Lynchbacks in a 2x12, but I'm seriously considering picking up some of the Legend V12s.
