Is the purple one the one with the x1000? Those are Eminence, right? The SLO is so picky about speakers. I've been running it with Lynchbacks in a 2x12, but I'm seriously considering picking up some of the Legend V12s.

Yep the one I got has the Eminence X1000's.
Far as I can work out the V12's are basically Eminence's version of a Celestion Vintage 30.
I reckon the X1000 suits the SLO better.
I can't get that chewy grind out of my V30 loaded Mesa Stiletto cab.

Editing my post, OP is below in this this post.

This morning I went to try out the purple straightfront cab.
It looks way better in person than in the pics I was sent, but it took literally 20 seconds of playing this thing before I knew I was leaving with it.

Soooo much low end available if needed.
I really do not understand why people say these sound thin. It sounds huge.
I'll mount some wheels on it to move around.
The high end headroom is also great and playing with the mids knob really dials in some hard backbone in the sound if needed.
Just a fantastic, raw, rich and chewy sound.
Does it sound like a Marshall? No. But I wasn't after that sound with this, otherwise I'd have a Marshall.
Cannot wait to let this thing loose on stage. Very happy.

This weekend I'm going to buy a Soldano 4x12 for my purple SLO that I just love. I'm not crazy about the colour, but the sound is mental.

I'm in Australia. I have about $775 US to go towards it.
I already have a slant Mesa Stiletto 4x12 with V30s that I use with my MKIII head.

The band plays alternative metal like Chevelle, Deftones etc....

Here's my options:

1) mid 90's black Soldano 4x12 straight cab in excellent condition with x1000's. Selling for about $760 US

2) unsure of age, purple Soldano straight 4x12. Average condition. Marks and tears mainly on top and back. X1000 speakers. Selling for around $690 US.

3) newer purple slant Soldano 4x12 with V12's. Good shape, some marks on top. Selling for about $615 US

What's the best choice in your opinion?

Looks great and I'm a fan of matching cabs to heads ;)

All that matters is if YOU like it and it works well for you. Its not like the Soldano cabs are POS cabs but for me mine came in last against 1960a, Bogner, VHT, and Splawn cabs I have. The caveat is I don't have a SLO to see how it matches the cab. Mine is just like yours but gray Tolex that I tried with a 101B, 50CL, 2203, QuickRod and Mesa DC5. I think it may be because of the smaller construction to the other cabs I have...less wood

I have no idea what that was about either.
Perhaps he's been sniffing liquid paper?

Awesome! Glad you found a cab you love!

I love Soldano cabs.

Fair enough, it may be that the SLO cabs are great for the SLO but awful for other heads.
I think it might be more about less empty resonant space inside. I'd say Mike cut back on the internal size to get that punchier and tighter response needed from the SLO.

I love Soldano cabs.

Very nice!
Did yours come stock with the wheels or did you add them yourself?

It came stock with the wheels. I got it directly from Soldano. Mike Soldano and crew are very, very cool people.

For sure, super chilled out bloke, spoken to him a couple times on the phone and he's more than happy for a chat :)

Love the look of that setup. Glad you got what you really wanted. I'm sure it sounds ripping.

Seriously it's the sound I've had in my head all these years.
It just feels right.

Bogner 4x12 with Greenbacks
This -- it's best to have a bright amp - clarity --- darken it down with greenbacks plus greenbacks are inefficient so u can turn up the slo a bit more
