SLO observations and question for other owners

You guys really scared me off. I'm trying to find a store to demo one, no luck so far.

Not Super Lead loud, but they're not bedroom amps IME.

As for the volume, I thought it was usable for home use, not bedroom volumes, but TV volumes its passable

I think SLO's sound best LIVE, not at home. Where my XTC sounded better at home.

Try one. Don't worry about what you read here because we can't possibly give you as much info as a 5 minute demo with that amp.

If you can play your VH4 at home, you should be safe I found the two to be very similar in terms of the amount of minimum volume necessary to get a nice tone out of it.

I don't think MnM is a Soldano dealer, but I'll give it a try tomorrow.

BTW - how does SLO like v30s or 75s?

They used to stock Soldano cabs w/ V30's until they went w/ Eminence.

So Pete...what's the verdict with your power tube experiment??? I'm torn between 3 options for my Avenger right now:

- Tung Sol 5881's (rave reviews)
- Ruby 6l6 GCMSTR (have them in my recto...love em' so far)
- Sovtek 5881WGC (came stock in the amp....and sounded killer right off the bat)
