interesting direction...

I've had the katana head, twice. never owned a THR, though if I believe what I read they are very similar to the katana in tonal quality. i really liked the katana and i honestly think i'd like the THR as much.

currently i have a kemper stage, which is a phenomenal piece of gear. i sold my katana and some other stuff to fund the kemper purchase...
for me, my playing style, ear, and all the other stuff, the Kemper, as good as it is, just lacks a little "something", especially at low volumes. and maybe it's more operator error than function of the gear itself. maybe if it had more volume with a nice power amp pushing a good cab it'd be there...but at that point, i could just gag my 50watter i've got; a builders variant of the old "Mod5", if you guys remember those.

gear and gear purchase for me is very much that hunt for the greenest grass.

Lowest watt tube amp? Fryette GP/DI.

1 watt, can push a 4x12 but not super hard. Using an Avatar 2x12 my neighbors can hear me. Super cool little amp, takes pedals really well.

Shit ton of outs, built in load so you can run it into an interface, built in cab sim that’s defeatable if you want to use IRs instead.

Went to that one after my Kemper escapades, haven’t really switched in over a year.

i've noticed that some of the DSL's have on/off switch on left, some on the right. i'm sure that was a year change (thing), but is there a real circuit change in there or is this mostly cosmetic... head vs Combo?
