Thinking about getting one. Trying to whittle down the best options.

When I say small..way less than 50w. Switchable to lower wattage would be ok
Would love a really good MV, or at a minimum needs to sound and feel good a low volume
Love modded marshall flavors.
Don’t have to have clean
Could be a head or combo

You guys are a wealth of knowledge..,
And go!

Thanks

1st. Bogner 3534. Great master and low volume tone. 2nd Splawn Streetrod. Really cool modded marshall tone. Not that great at bedroom volumes. Don’t care what anyone says. It just doesn’t. If you can turn it up a bit sounds great!!

Sounds stupid maybe but being from NC I feel
Compelled to think hard about the splawn but I don’t another amp that needs to be loud to get that good tube feel.

Will have to look into the others. The mini hub is an interesting option I hadn’t considered.
I played a dsl when it first came out years ago...-
Was a little ice-picky to the ears. Has it changed any ?

Dover DA-20 by far! Only smaller high gain amp that really impressed me. I just made a thread here of my review/take on it. Very impressive amp

It fits exactly what you’re describing and sounds a lot better than any Splawn I’ve tried (and I’ve basically tried ‘em all)

The mini Jube would probably be my 2nd best choice and probably a bit better for the non-high gain stuff, but for heavier or more modern stuff I’d easily say the Dover for sure

Depends how low of volume you want to go. I use the volume loop a bit to tame my Splawn but I still play at fairly loud volume in the house , loud enough to where it sounds like it has balls . They sound pretty thin at low volume to my ears , much better cranked up of course

Jet City 20 with the psycho Dave mods. The clips are here somewhere.

Mesa Mk V:35. You can find them used in your range now. Longstoryshort.... it'll do everything really well. My other amps have been sitting around feeling jealous for 3yrs now because I'm using mine for pretty much everything.

OH...and it's the LOUDEST 35watts I've ever heard, with regards to using it with others if desired, which I didn't plan on doing with it. But on the 5watt setting, it's your best friend at home.

I'm enjoying the Krank 1980 Jr. 20 watt amp head/Marshall 1912 1x12 closed back cab set up. I can get some aggressive Marshall overdrive and a good clean tube tone without blasting everyone out of the room. Underated amp that doesn't sound like the Krank Revolution or Krankenstein either and can be found for a good price used.

I've never played the small DSL's, but can certainly vouch for the Jube. You have to balance the 2 volumes, but the sweet spot is pretty sweet. However, I've heard great things about the DSL's.

I like the Mesa Mark V 25, killer amp.

I know we talked about this one, but if you want super low watts, the Randall RD5 is a mean little amp too.

Mezzabarba Skill 30. First channel can be very Marshally and sound massive for 11,5 kg.

Peavey 6505 combo, Synergy System with Mertoplex and Deliverence modules, Bogner Shiva or Bogner Goldfinger, Budda Superdrive 45,

Marshall DSL 20HR with a boost pedal. Has reverb and selectable wattage too.
