So Cutler is finally gone

Huge Broncos fan here...it's a shame how this played out, both sides are to blame- although ultimately in the end I feel Cutler should have just grown a set and used the situation as motivation to prove how good he is.

In the short term Chicago wins, in the long term Denver wins- unless Denver can pull off another trade of picks or use the picks to get a real QB, then it's an absolute steal for Denver. Chicago now actually has a real quarterback...but who's he gonna throw to? It will be interesting to see how things turn out.

I think this was a huge move for both teams. Orton isn't the answer in Denver...so they will be drafting a QB later this month. Draft picks are always a crap shoot, but the Cowboys built their team based on the picks they received for Herschell Walker....

The acquisition of Cutler improved the bears 10 fold. He's got a huge arm and makes smart decisions. The Bears will definitely be contenders this year based on this this one move...

That's kinda how I feel. They will probably take a QB, but it might not be until a little later in the draft because I don't see any of the guys in the 1st 2 rounds being the franchise guy that Dallas got with Aikman right before the Walker trade.

Best thing for the Bears is that the division isn't very solid. Potentially it is, but Green Bay looked bad last year and the Vikings are either gonna be great or suck again. I think Cutler is over rated as well. No matter what his arm can do he has the potential to turn into a T.O. at any moment. But it should be more than enough to have the Bears winning that division.

If the Broncos draft well they could be a great team in 3-4 years. Four #1 picks in the next 2 years? Wow.

Something that hasn't been mentioned yet is that Cutler wanted to go to the Bears. He grew up a Bears fan and is probably fulfilling a childhood dream. I'm hoping that will help keep him from going TO!

Also the Bears have a receiver named Earl Bennet who if given the chance can be (IMO) a quality receiver. He also played with Cutler at Vanderbilt. I'm a huge Bears fan and I was screaming all last season for Bennet to get some playing time. Stubborn fucking Lovie had to stick with washed up Marty Booker!

Maybe I'm drunk on Blue and Orange kool-aid, but with the acquisition of Pace the Bears offense can be pretty damn good. They've got a solid running back in Forte and two pretty damn good tight ends in Olson and Clark...

Chicago's not gonna be the same with a QB that knows what he's doing.

Who will we blame when the Bears lose?

In other NFL news, the Giants just released Plaxico Burress.

The Bears gave up way to much for a non playoff QB. I don't care about the stats. Half of that was cuz of Brandon Marshall being a force.

Cutler went 16th overall to Denver a couple years ago.

Now the bears give up a starting qb, Two 1st round picks and a 3rd? Man, Cassel only got 2nd round value. I think the broncos made out huge with that trade.

Wow, the East just keeps getting worse. I guess the 'boys might have a chance after all.

The Giants made some great moves to their defense and pass rush. They grabbed a good player from the Cowboys in Canty.

And Romo has yet to win a playoff game and no more TO. As much of an ass that TO is, he's still a big threat on the field.

And what the heck are the Mets thinking in signing Sheffield?

Unless they get him a big time receiver, they're gonna get killed. They have nobody to throw to at all and Eli isn't good to begin with.

Orton is a backup QB at best. Considering the Bears past history with first round picks: Cade McNown, Rashaan Salaam, Curtis Enis, Stan Thomas, Rex Grossman(any of them ring a bell?), I think this was a decent move for the Bears.

Cutler is definitely the most talented QB in Chicago since I started watching them in the late '70's. I know that's not saying much, but when you consider that the Best QB's the Bears have had since the Super Bowl win in '85 are Erik Kramer and Jim Miller   , Cutler looks mighty good to this Bears fan!

Cutler is easily the best passer that team has ever had IMO. He had no defense at all in Denver, so I don't think he'll have a problem winning in Chicago. I don't think he'll put up 4500 yards again this year, but only because I can't see him throwing 600+ passes again.

I'd agree 100% with this. I believe they had Sid Luckman back in the '30's or '40's though...

Cutler won't have to throw the ball 600+ times because the Bears can run the ball. Forte is pretty damn good and with a legitimate threat to throw the ball with Cutler, I believe he'll have an even better year than his rookie year last season. Defenses will have to honor Cutler and not overload the line like they did last year with Orton at QB. Forte's also a pretty decent receiver out of the backfield as well. Yet another weapon for Cutler. :D

I agree with those that said the Bears gave too much, 1 #1 pick and a #3 would have been more like it, but a #1 pick this year and next year was too much. I have mixed feelings on Cutler, he is better than Orton, but he really hasn't proven himself much yet.

And since no one mentioned it, I am against an 18 game season, the season is long enough. I hate the way the NFL does preseason, it screws over the season ticket holders. I dislike all preseasons actually, NFL, MLB, NBA, etc....

Pass rush, running game, defense. They will be better in all 3 areas next year. They won't have to throw the ball that much.

EDIT: The Bears also signed Orlando Pace yesterday, so that's great for them if he stays healthy.
You say that like there is a chance of that happening.
