So I got an amp....

Awesome. I've had the 100 watt combo for a few weeks now. I haven't played this much guitar in my life. I love the crunch channel with some overdrive, delay and reverb. Rolling my volume knob back for cleaner tones.

I absolutely love this amp. I haven't touched my 5150 iii since I got the katana. I have 5 channels set

Chan 1 - clean with delay and reverb
Chan 2 - crunch with boost, delay and reverb
Chan 3 - lead channel with a dash of reverb
Chan 4 - brown channel with rat as a boost and delay - total Nuno tone
Panel - similar to channel 2 with less gain - Andy Timmons all the way!!!

Man they should put the preamp guts into a standard Boss pedal and market the "ef" out of it!! That brown sound is excellent! It would replace the AMT P2 in my practice rig in a heartbeat! Love it!!

I suspect the Digital series lineage is closely related.

hah...I'm feeling pretty cool since it seems to be getting the opposite comments of a BLADES!

But Jeff does it slice like the Blades? Your clips would fool even the best ear if you didnt say what it was. How is it in the room??

Art....it fricken rocks and does not slice it cuts! Can get a bit raspy with the high end. Just cut the treble or presence and you can further tweak in the boss studio software that you can use with it. I mean it pretty much made me turn off my VHT....[/quote]
Wow...I've thought about one of these, I mean for 300 bucks? Very cool!

Sounds good Jeff. I've had the head since they first landed, great piece of gear. You can hook it up to the Boss Tone Studio and have access to 55 effects. I use with the GAFC? footswitch and you can change channels and turn effects on/off etc.

Its way better and much more versatile than a $300 pedal! Plus you could gig with it as is.

I dig it! How "big" does it sound in the room?

So about the size of a midsize car!

I mean with my 4x10 it sounds big! With the 5 inch speaker not so big about 5 inches!

I also picked up one of these heads. Pretty darn amazed at the tones and feel.

Playing it mainly through my Germino 212 cab with scummies. Also have run it through the 412 with V30s/Greenbacks. Both sound really good.

Yeah, it's f'n COLD out there! Wow.

I just had played through one earlier this week and agree with you how good it sounds.

Hell, I plug into my blackstar ID 100 combo daily and that also delivers.

It's great that good tone can easily be available these days without spending literally thousands of dollars. I've been done chasing the insanity that gear brings for some time now and love just playing and enjoying it.

But, this is a gear forum so...

That Boss amp sounds great dude!

Damn that thing sounds good! Great price too!

Ya it's just crazy price and it sounds so good. I played my vht and went back to the boss and it was fucking killer! I'm dumbfounded and I stop playing go away for hours come back fire it up and it's wow just wow!

How much are they, I thought they were expensive for some reason?

You're probably thinking of the "Waza" amp. These Katana amps are all under $500 and the head I think is under $400. I grabbed the 2x12 combo for the heck of it and it is a great amp.

you are right, that is what I was thinking of.

what is the difference between the waza and katana? one is around 2 grand and one is 350?

Sounds great, Jeff.

Looks like this amp can cover a lot. How does it compare to other amps for straight up palm muted metal riffs?

Willing to give it a shot. Heads $349 everyplace? Any coupons or discount codes from any of the usual suspects?
