He might not be allowed to say it sounds pretty much the same...As the original..
But what about the twin tiger shark processors and the G2 amp modeling technology and the VVT and Cliff's cats and all the money everyone spent on the “restored digital to its rightful place as the superior solution to musical effects processing.” ?! :dunno:

Not saying that Pete was posting the end all tones but until you all with golden ears consistently post clips that kill this with your holy grail amps I'll quote our fellow forumite Vrad.... I put an "*" with your opinion.

I will also say I don't hear huge leap from the original AxeFX's and this one. The difference may come in player interaction so I will leave that part until I play one.

Also Pete said he thought he was getting tones that "sound really good"..... so are you guys saying Pete has shitty taste or tin ears?

I don't have a decent recording set up and I don't have to make you a demo to know that my 150 watt Mesa Boogie Triple Rectifier slays that thing in the massive high gain balls to the wall, kill your small pets tone department.

And I got a feeling you know I'm right. :D

And by the way, I'm not bashing on the Ax at all, I've never played one myself, I'm just making a statement saying I don't like what I hear on a YouTube video clip (they usually suck for most any amp clip). That's all.

I have no agenda. As a matter of fact, I secretly hoped the new Ax would be awesome. Maybe it is. I have no bias toward non-tube gear.

Sounds great but then again, I think most amps sound great whenyou play through it.

Sound's like Pete Thorn.... only proves tone is in the fingers. Honestly I think the Carl Martin Plexitone vid sounds just as good. I'm not knocking the axe-fx, there's no denying it is a great piece of gear. Depends on what you want to spend that kind of cash on. I'd rather buy a nice amp.

All of those sound good, seems like a great tool. An amp is an amp and this is this. I guess people really shouldn't try to compare a modeler to a 100 watt tube stack, but what do I know, I still like playing thru my POD sometimes!

Ha, I'm stirrin up some shit here! I like that...

for the record- I think the Axe 2 sounds great, I think the Axe 1 sounds really good too. I had LITERALLY 24 hrs with this box- and I was busy doing other stuff too that day so there are QUICK dialed in clips. It has a buttload of features I didn't have any time to try...I agree I like my Plexitone vid too, and I like real amps, and I like the axe, so I agree with all that haha, it's a killer tool, the Axe FX. It ain't going to please all people all the time but for what it is it's bitchin. like I say in the Axe Ultra advertisement- it's a swiss army knife. An amazing tool.

I thought they all sounded really great, Pete. The ones that got my attention were the Hi-Powered patch with the Suhr tele, the Plexi clip, and the Trainwreck clips. Thanks!

I think many men cannot play a plexi that well to get those nice tones. I am one.

i thought all the sounds were a variation of the same thing....there seemed to be not much change.....if you had 5 different amps in a room they would sound different and feel different with the axe im not hearing that change.....the freidman sounded like the plexi and neither sounded like a marshall at all...........but none the less it sounds like an exellent direct tool for recording regardless......i just wish they had a unit with not so much options considering the varition isnt wide.....a few cool cleans and dirtys...i wouldnt need 200 patches of similar....i run into this with all modelers....
nice playin tho pete

Doesn't sound any better than the Ultra really. And i wanted to see something like a POD HD500 not an Axe-2 from Fractal.

The wrecker patch with the strat sounded ok but all the others had relatively unpleasing distortion characteristics. Thanks for giving it a whirl.

I got to borrow my buddies Axe Fx II. I am very excite!
But thus far, I have a problem with the highgain models. Not getting me as well as I though they would. Cleans and FX are awesome though and the ease of use/record/tempo/alterations are incredible.

Thanks for the clips, Pete! I too am in the camp that didn't hear much improvement over an Ultra, but it's very early in the game still.

normally i agree with everything PT lays down (great tones on the nerd cd btw!)
but the tones here are not really that sweet to me

I liked the clips. I particularly liked the Shiver, Plexi and Wrecker clips. As soon as the used Standard/Ultra drop substantially in price I will pick one up for home recording. Thanks Pete.
