I've never spoken to Mike before. But I have spoken to Rich several times. Nice guy. Very helpful. Even when I asked novice/stupid questions (like, "When was my amp born?").
I broke my Nomad once (like an idiot, I tried to run it on the same circuit as a window A/C unit - and did some damage to it) and had to have it repaired. On Mesa's web site I found an "authorized" Mesa repair shop about an hour away. Called them and made an appointment. My wife and I decided to make an evening of it and drove over there together.
It took us a while to find the place. I started getting nervous. We followed the instructions and turned off of the main highway onto a back road, turned onto a sandy road when we reached the barn, and turned off of that road when we found the hand-written sign nailed to a tree. We reached a clearing with a vehicle in it. The repair shop was just across a creek. It was a very old building, pretty much a shack. There were no signs. It honestly looked like something out of a horror movie.
I told my wife there was no way we were getting out of the vehicle. We turned around and left. Once we got to the main road again, I called the shop back - just to verify we had been at the right place. Turns out we were at the right place. I told them that once we saw their shop, we decided to pass on dropping off the amp.
On the way home, I called Mesa and spoke to Rich. I told him about our experience. He was very apologetic and turned the call over to his manager (I don't remember his name, though). The manager was also very apologetic and told me that the repair shop's authorization status was going to be "reevaluated". They gave me an RMA number and asked me to send in the chassis. George (I think that is the name) actually worked on the amp. He did a wonderful job fixing what I had broken. He also "threw in" some cleanup/tuneup work for me. When it was ready for return, Rich called me to tell me when to expect it to be shipped. We spoke for a while on the phone. He told me he used a Nomad for keyboard work - and loved how it sounded.
Mailman1971, I didn't mean to sideswipe your thread. But, I haven't shared this experience with many. And, in the light of your experiences with Rich and Mike, I thought it may be interesting for others to read.
Thanks!
