Here's the thing; I've met Cliff a couple of times, and in person, he's a very cool guy.

In my mind, the Fractal Fanatics are the gear equivalent of Trekkies or Star Wars fans; a bunch of fucking dorks with a VERY narrow outlook, and this is their version of camping out four days prior to the release of a new movie. First their panties get all wet with anticipation, then they find something to whine about, and keep it up incessantly. No wonder he's annoyed.

I'm fairly certain Cliff really WOULD be happier without them as customers.

I guess I just find it hard to get THAT wound up about ANY piece of gear (and I own an Axe Fx)

WTF is wrong with people

I have heard that before (that he's a nice guy) and from someone i know and trust, to boot. However this doesn't send warm fuzzy feelings to people who haven't met him, and have only his Internet tough guy posts to go by.

Ya know your boy Don Barzini bought 5 of those Axe-Fx's I seem to remember. Not at the same time either.

I get that, but imagine his frustration. He can't win.

I couldn't deal with those nut jobs on a daily basis; not a chance (and I'm pretty laid back)

I completely understand his frustration.

This is why he needs to hire a PR/Marketing/customer service person to handle this sort of shit. While he may indeed be a nice guy, he's clearly not a people person.

Even after he blows up
They still start threads like
" what time should i be online to purchase
"are all the axe gone today"
If i were Cliff and i'n order to avoid further
Blowouts
I would close the forum for a few weeks
All it is right now is the same questions and whining

I waited and got an ultra with new silent fan and recent firware for 1350.0 shipped mint condition:)

He had a bad moment. It happens to everybody.

Cliff may be a great guy in person but this is only one if several instances of Cliff being a dick on both the Fractal Audio forums and other forums. This was not a one off.

i personally find cliff's post hilarious, and would certainly buy another of his units down the line. have you read the insanity going on in the fractal forum? people are freaking out!!!!! as was posted earlier in this thread, this has nothing to do with music anymore. its internet bragging rights.

i took all of this hoopla as an opportunity to snag up an ultra for a great price!

+1

I don't blame him one bit. He has been working all weekend until very late working on orders because the company producing the chasis had an issue. The man literally works crazy hours so that he can keep his product american made, which is something he believes in and also ensures quality products. The amount of people on that forum who just spewed unintellectual hatred and nonsense blew my mind. There are 500 people on that forum at a time just complaining and whining while he is also answering peoples personal questions and trying to help. This event is going to change how he handles product launches in the sense that instead of trying his damndest to get us something early, he's going to do what all the big companies do and probably introduce a new product at Namm/NY Amp show - and then say it will be released 8-12 months from the shows date. He's not wrong in saying that he has enough units to cover the demand, he does, it just has to be handled like this so they can ship them out in a timely fashion.

I feel bad because he is the only person I can think of that runs a company we care about that I even know their name, let alone get responses and whitty posts on the forum and I love that about FAS. Some people think he's a dick, I think he sounds like any of my drinking buddies haha. Also a lot of times dumb questions deserve dumb answers.

I guess I'm just less sensitive than some around here. :dunno:

I have gone to Cliff's shop a few times when I bought an axe and to check out his Atomic stuff, he was always super cool and very nice. Owning a company like that where you have to wear every hat is a pretty daunting task and his customers are a bit fanatical. Its is easy to say oh just hire a PR/shipping or whoever person, but hiring the right person and also finding the budget are another thing all together. The guys probably already works more hours in a week than most do in two. He invented a pretty amazing product and I just cut him some slack. I would have told those people to fuck off even sooner LOL.
