I've owned the Phase 100, regular phase 90 and borrowed my friend's EVH 90.

IMO the EVH or the "Script" reissues are superior. The regular phase 90 has too much going on soundwise (not subtle enough) and is noisy. Not like hissing noisy, but just sounds like a mess with distortion.

If you get a stock phase 90, do this mod. It sound WAY better than stock.

It's a newer one modded to the VH spec. The only thing that I don't like about it, and it could be my imagination, is that after I use it, I hear some bleed.

It is addictive though, as I've always loved the Schenker wah boost sound, and the phase sort of circulates right around that same frequency. I can see why Lynch uses it a lot now.

Another cool way that I cop Ed is just punching it in and out on a certain phrase, just a little spice here and there. Seriously, one of the best pedals for under $75 (if you buy a used one).

Grab the 74' Script reissue. When my original 78' one died I tested out the current Block Phase 90, the EVH and the 74' reissue. Hands down the 74'reissue sounded the best. IMO.

By the way, HUGE difference in the modded vs. unmodded. I can hear it over these crappy laptop speakers.

I have EVH phase 90, really like the pedal. I used to run it in the effect loop, but now I have it right after my Wah, 2nd in the pedal chain. Thankfully I don't notice any tone suckage either.

I've been using an old block logo one ever since somebody swiped my script logo right off of my board in between sets back in '97. Came back from break to be greeted by an empty spot on my board

The script sounded better but the block is cool in its own right. I haven't tried any of the recent ones (EVH or script ri)...maybe I should? Or mod my old block logo?

Well I'm a bit of a phaseaholic...had many and of the MXR bunch the 2 I prefer and use are the standard block Phase 90 for solo's and the EVH 90 for anything else.

Alot of people don't like the block for the very reason's I do...it distorts slightly. For solo's...to me that's a good thing, it gives the effect a bit more bite and cut...it's not subtle and I don't want it to be. The EVH 90 is used for anything else...cleans, heavy sounds, faux roto etc...
