...your "to date" take on this wondrous little piece of techno wizardy? Just as stoked as the day ya got to plug into it? Is it growing into your daily lifestyle like a family member? Is it getting boring? How long have you had it and do you think it's overrated? Has it "truly taken over and made you sell all your gear"? Is it the bees knees or "flip this please"??

Just wondering...
Mo

From one Mo to another... it's been a daily struggle... it's a love/hate relationship. Just last night I had a monstrous Das Metall tone through my Marshall 1960 V30/G12T-75 cabs using my Ibanez with BK Painkiller PU's... then if the weather changes, that same patch will sound thin and lifeless so it may be more "amp-like" that I would like it to be!! hahahaha

Been using it since v5. Done hundreds of shows with it. Eventually sold all my modern amps.
Still digging it, except these days instead of the mixed direct/power amp+guitar cab set-up I use it DI only.
I'm actually getting a second one to leave in Asia...

Here ya go...3 days ago at the Baked Potato in LA...

Sold mine. Had it from V3.14. I much prefer slaving or using an amp and a Two-Notes VB - 101 for direct.

But you have now officially made this TGP with the Axe thread.

Do you have yours yet? How are you running it? Hope you love it.

I'm going on 2 years of gigs with mine. Sold all my modern amps as well...kept all the old Marshalls and Fenders though. Love the Axe.

I think a lot of people get frustrated with the axefx just because there are sooo many amps and sooo many settings to choose from. I've gone through this also but just recently have realized that if I just pick one amp model and work with it for awhile, the tones are all there you just have to spend the time finding them and getting them right. Right now I'm loving the Mark IIC model. It's really friggin awesome sounding. I won't be selling my axefx anytime I can see.

best piece of gear I've ever bought. Period.
Did take me a while to get the tones I was happy with but now i could never go back.
There are SO MANY REASONS why it is awesome:

-silent practice/demo recording
-tonal versatility/fx capability
-routing capability
-flexibility of application (i use it live with a 2/90/2 for example but jam/record direct)
-practically no noise floor
-quality of tones/fx
-running direct in the studio/reamping/impulse capability

Good feedback, a couple of the usual suspects here, and by NO means was this to end us up in TGP territory... It was an innocent question

As per the question above, no, haven't received mine yet - it's sitting in customs at the border about 4 hours or so from where I live... Whatever, I'm a patient guy. I tell ya, this evening trying to mic one of my latest rigs to get some clips together has me SO pissed - I spend probably 2/3's of my time I have tweaking mics to get them "just so". This is one thing I am really looking forward to in getting it. Fewer to no hassles.

And believe me, it took me a lot of "NO, I'M NOT GETTING ONE!!" to finally crack and decide all the good things I'm reading and hearing warrant a true test drive

sure...if I ever needed one up in BC...

After been owning one for a year, and tried around 25 other metal amps during that year I must say that I enjoy a real amp more. Sure I can't get the same amount of options as with the axe fx but just sitting with a good sounding Mark V amp in front of me makes me feel like I was 15 again discovering the best metal tone ever. I still use my Axe fx live and at rehearsal and love it.

Which is more than enough for most people. You have 90% of the Ultra.

If it doesn't have a gain knob and a master volume, I am in over my head. I figured the time would be more wisely spent packing up amps to flip.

Ola, is that because you aren't running the Axefx through a tube power amp and cab? I wonder how it compares like that for enjoyment, just using it as a preamp....that Marsha clip recently was pretty close to the real thing...not quite as good to my ear, but same ball park definitely.

I'd love one for the studio and maybe even some additional amps live, but I'm a sucker for knobs at gigs...hard to fast tweak a menu button! I guess you could get pretty fast at menus, but maybe not while playing a song! You'd also have to save it before switching presets otherwise it would return untweaked, unlike a hardware preamp knob which remains where you left it.

I ran it up against a Fish, X88, X99, CAE and a few others. (VHT, Soldano and Mesa power amps with Thieles loaded with EVMs and a few Scumback cabs) I liked all the original preamps more, but not by enough to matter to most. It's worth checking out though.
