So why did you get rid of it again? Because you weren't using it live?mentoneman":37a7akqe said:remember i say this as a prior axe fx owner/advocate-
the last few weeks playing live with a real amp/pedals/gforce rig has been very rewarding after a year of live play with the axe.
it feels and responds better to my hands and touch, sounds fuller, and records better in the mix.
the difference switching from axe to tube was immediate, and a relief after "fine tuning" for a year live, and getting to the point with the axe that it was as good as it was going to get for me, but never quite as fat/full/rich and predictable as a tube amp rig when going for mid gain sounds and working the guitar's volume.
when i ran a mid gain sound for rhythm on the axe, and rolled it off on the gtr vol, it would change the eq like scoop it out and get really bright and skinny, and with the tube amp, it was more a predictable cleaning up of the exact same tone.
this may not be a big deal for most axe owners, but for me and my tones, that's where i LIVE.
with the axe i had relatively every tone at my disposal
now i have my tone back.
what i miss the most about axe is the layers, combinations and types of amps, tapped delays, tremolo, chorus, verb (oh man the pcm 70....) the violin, crystal echoes.....
the endless amounts of gain you have at your disposal, and the instant switching of an entire guitar rig in a TINY package.
maybe i'll get another one day, once they have an all in one floorboard, tube buffered, with powered outs to plug into speakers.

This is what always confounds me about this wonderful device...for the life of me I can't understand why people can't use both real tube amps and AXE...So fine; don't use it live...it's still a wonderful FX processor, great for recording, playing at home, great for your rig...

all in one, for the sole purpose of getting a decent sound without lugging everything around
I doubt it will satisfy the same way as a favored amp
but I think most gigs....I really don't care about the tone...not when I don't have a roadie

I sit there at night, doing work on my client files, and every so often, pen down some amp/effects chains that I think would sound neat. Hell ya, it's a toy, but a damn fine sounding toy. Now, when the hair on the chest needs to thicken a bit, the Mak4 is my pride and joy. What the HELL was I THINKING when I ordered a power amp with 100W a SIDE!?!?!?!?!![]()
