So what Marshall should I be looking for?

Ok so I have already decided that 2009 will be the year I get an old school Marshall and I am not the Marshall historian that others are, clueless is a good word describing my background.

What I want out of it.......

Marshall clean so that I can throw pedals in front like Andy Summers type stuff.
EL34s
Accept type crunch
That open ROARRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR, not compressed tone.
Can be pushed into 80s hair with boost.
I am willing to send it out for a nip and tuck aka cut it up a tad if I have to.

Not interested in other makers, I want to own a killer Marshall. I really enjoy Savage's Marshall clips and you can also use Lynch's Under Lock and Key for a reference.

Damn that is a good price, I saw 1959x's at GC for around $1400 but not the HW.

Actually I've seen mid 70s with the toggles.
The big difference betwen those pictures is that the JMP is a non-master and the Mk2 is a master.

+1 on the JMP. I have only played original JMPs. I loved them stock. The re-issue of the 1959 plexi, I did not care for stock. I plyed over a 77',78' and a 71', I loved them all.

So the JMP MKII is PCB and has an MV, how is the core voicing compared to an early 70s JMP?

My vote don't carry much weight but I agree with the others that have said JMP.

I HATED, let me repeat that, HATED Marshalls until I played a late 70's (can't remember the exact year) JMP. If God had an amp, that would have been it. The owner said it was just a stock model too.

Since then, I've warmed a bit to Marshall's, DSLs in particular, but still am a Boogie guy. If given the opportunity though, I'd pay $5000 or more for that JMP. I loved it that much. And I've never heard another one that has matched it.
