mojave peacemaker set for classic clean to ac/dc crunch on the low sensitivity channel,

with a cameron high gain mod on the high sensitivity input for VH to Lynch sacred groove tones would

OWN

truly the only marshalls i ever ran across that i really wanted were super rare and expensive flukes because the bulk of them were harsh or very mediocre. some were powdery and smooth like jtm 45 tones ala egnater, others were lighter and chimey like some germinos and aikens, with a little more bounce and buckle.

the PM is the refined classic marshall plexi identity with a capacity for more modern twists and reliability. and if you had scoured and searched and experimented for decades to extract *that* tone from your gear only to always come up a tad short in one way or another, the peacemaker emerges as an answer. each chord is like opening a trap door to a cavernous den of roaring lions.

steve, curt, me, zach, mark, keith, and a few other hardcore rock tone pilgrims all sort of conclude that the PM hits the core of that sound pretty hard.

i only mention the cameron thing because mark comes from that same tone starting point, but ramps up the gain rpms way higher, which satisfies the supersoak crowd. but keeps the core essence of fat plexi roaring tone intact. the vht deliverance would fall somewhere between peacemaker and cameron to my ears and touch. diezel herbert ch 2 + is between vht and cameron. suhr od 100 classic is like vht but less preamp gain.

i do think that the PM is probably one of the lowest preamp gain rock heads on the market, but the TONE factor is extremely high.

Regarding some comments about the JCM800 2203 in this thread : yes, you can get an awesome clean tone with that amp. It had to be said.

You know you just threw a huge mess at me with the DL, those amps do have that raw un-compressed roar as well. As much as a Cameron modded PM sounds, bliss would be a good description, I donot think I could get that to happen due to Mark's schedule.
