Seems like there is a lot of class struggle going on at Rig Talk between the haves and have nots.

So, I decided to make a poll to find out how to tell the elitist douches from the blue collar musicians.

All of this is in jest, so take it with a grain of salt. No Crystal frets debates.

Be careful how you vote, all those nonconforming, anti-establishment hippies became the Yuppies of the '80s. This will be on your permanent record. ;)

I had to vote for the recital at grandma's because it cracked me up

My daily driver cost me $300. I did have to repair the engine and fix some other do dads. Only into it for around $1500 soooooooooo door number one for me.  My last amp was $2200 (got a smokin deal) I must be a blue collar douche

I voted for the Grandma one as well. I really don't have a problem with anyone's opinion unless they try to force it on someone. Everyone has their own viewpoint, and that's fine I respect that. People like that TAG guy who not only got suckered into all the hype of those boutique gearmakers, but then proceeds to tell everyone from behind a gold plated keyboard how touched of an ear he has and how no one else in the world can hear the subtle differences that make boutique gear better and worth a house down payment is asinine. And when someone asks for a pickup recommendation and specifies "Duncan, DiMarzio, and EMG only, no boutique pickups" there's always that guy who tells his life story and how he came to find boutique pickups and how they improved his quality of life.

My guitar cord costs more then Lunch at McDonalds...

so you KNOW its a GOOD ONE!!

I think you hit the nail on the head with that Grandma recital! :D

When you only like the gear you own and the gear you want, but can't afford, without ever personally hearing and analyzing most of the gear you rip on.

The guitar is a personal instrument for me. To have so many that you don't remember them all just doesn't seem right.

As for Grandma? I think some people just enjoy collecting / playing for themselves and have no desire to play out. I'm okay with that, though I would argue they're missing out!

I'd like to think that everyone's guitar cord (at least here) cost more than lunch at McDonalds.

I voted for the recital at grandmas even though I haven't had a gig in over a year now :dunno:

I just love gear. :D

+1

But I also think number 2 is a good one "your amp costs more than your house". I saw the second marshall ever made on ebay go for $500,000

if you have nicer / more / better / more expensive / rare gear than someone else thinks you should have or thinks you deserve.

envy is the root of most perceived douchery

How about this option........When you go see a band play and their amps don't meet your criteria you immediatley fold your arms, roll your eyes, and dismiss the entire band.

I had to go with the AxeFX never sounding like a 'real amp'.

I may not be a douche per se, but I am a 'sonic elitist', and know my tones :D

V... Sorry, make that Sir V. :salute:

I voted for that one, my weekly jam the other guitarist walks in with a combo and maybe a pedal while I have the wife's Yukon loaded

I broke down and bought a 2x12...............oversized of course

How about when you beg and plead your younger brother to come to your gig. Then when he comes you get him to move your gear in and out and boss him around like he's a minimum wage roady.

Oh,wait. I think that's from the list of You May Be a Poseur If...

I didn't exactly play for my grandma...it was a bunch of other peoples grandmas. We actually played a retirement home back in the day and were doing things like Cult of Personality and Fire Women...I am a douche!
