when your choice in gear is on whats the new fad or rarity more then the tone, playability, useability, and then you down others for their gear choice or brag. Then again there are reverse douche's that simply are jealous because they cant afford or dont have as nice as equiptment or more importantly the playing chops, being a douch can work both ways!

I'm fortunate not to have any really super pissed off ex's, certainly not ex wives (on my first, will stick with my first), but I do know some psycho chicks out there woulda pulled a Hendrix/LighterFluid or 'accidentally backed over it when I was bringing it to your place' act on it. So lucky...

Funny too, that you mention this, is it me or has there been a bit of an "Explorer" buzz in RT as of late??

the elitist douche is anyone who looks down upon someone for any reason.

my metal is more true than yours. (look at the back/progressive/whatever crowd for proof)

my amp/guitar/pedals/cables are better/rarer/more expensive/more brutal/louder/whatever than yours.

my posts are more researched/thought out/better worded/punctuated/spelled/whatever than yours.

my dick is longer/thicker/stronger/smarter than yours.

my girl is hotter/taller/better job/bigger tits/tighter va-jay-jay/whatever than yours.

in some way, we all have a little elitist douche in us. i see some crack whore blowing truckers for $10 and think "UUUGGGHHH!!!", and thank the maker i never fell that far (as far as you know, anyway).

i can walk into most music shops and will rarely see something i want. in a way, that makes me kinda elitist. and it's not that the gear available isn't nice, it's just not what i'm looking for. in reality, i have all i could ever want or need. but, it only works for me, and that's all that matters. if what you have works for you, then that's all that matters to me too.
